Jeff Gordon Executive @ HMS

Surreal to see the 20something year old kid I rooted for when I was in 3rd grade...all through my grammar, high school, college and early adult hood be in a position to take over the company he had so much success at. This would be like Michael Jordan owning the Chicago Bulls for me.

hmmmm There goes out the door any thought of him impartial in the booth....

where is your proof? Does he spend 20 minutes yacking about HMS/Chevy like the gerbils do Yotas? Hell, I bet they spent 15 minutes talking and shooting KDB when he was running 20th last week.
You are right - I dont have any proof - Just concerned I guess.

Rick Hendrick has been talking about that for years, Jeff taking a bigger role at Hendrick. And like ChexOr Rex said Gordon has probably been in that position for a year or two anyway. What I am going to miss and many others I bet is seeing him fade into the woodwork after this TV work. Hopefully he will be a guest on some of the Nascar shows. He is a great ambassador of the sport IMO

I agree - He is very well spoken and knowledgeable

I did like seeing him every week. There’s nothing like seeing your favorite driver win and get that VL interview. In a weird way, it was awesome to see him on TV every week in this endeavor, it was almost like getting that TV time after he won

It could have been one of his trophy rooms and everyone would understand.

I have never seen this. How’d you find it? I never actually saw what he did with his Winston Cups! I see the 3 Daytona 500’s, 2 of the 5 Brickyards and maybe a Southern 500 trophy. Actually my favorite feat of Jeff’s was the 4 Southern 500’s in a row (95-98), such a a bad ass achievement.

I like the teepee.

It was said the moment this broke he wouldn’t be? Why did you think he would.

I guess since he was basically doing this role for some time I thought it would continue

A smart guy and an awesome race car driver.

The other day, after some laps getting acclimatized, he slid a top level midget through the turns at The Dirt Track at IMS and looked smooth and relaxed doing it. I watched the track time on the video 4 or 5 times. He won a lot of races in those things as a child.

His time will be better spent going forward. JMO, of course.

In case you haven’t seen it ...

This is the most natural step in "what's next?" chapter of someone's life I have ever seem. Not a shocker.

I listened to him for over an hour on the F1 Beyond the Grid Podcast he did a few weeks ago and if you go back to it now, he drops some hints on there regarding his NASCAR outlook.
