2021 IndyCar Miscellaneous Thread

It sounds as if Jack was the one to walk away from the table, which would be unexpected. Must be a good opportunity though.
RACER understands MSR and Harvey were set to sign an extension, but an abrupt change in direction for the Briton has led the team to start a search for his replacement. Unrelated to the Harvey development, MSR has signed the Brazilian, who won MSR’s first race at 105th Indianapolis 500 in May, to contest the entire 2022 calendar with a new teammate in the sister MSR entry.

Aren't there two open seats at Andretti?

Edit: Penske could also be a possibility if Pagenaud is going run IMSA.

First dominoes have fallen. Helio returns to full-time with MSR, Harvey’s contract isn’t extended.

Jack got screwed a lot this season, IMO.

Nice.

Despite how well or bad he’ll do at least and hopefully at the end of te year he will go out in his own terms. Least he deserves is that.

Yeah, I could see this happening. However, I'm not the most keen on Nico Hulkenburg. I'd rather see him in WEC or something of the sorts, but he would be a solid addition to the IndyCar field.

Grojsean really has opened the flood gates again.

Alpine Academy F2 driver Christian Lundgaard and Oliver Askew tested with RLL at Barber on Monday. Might be a gong show type of program to see who gets the #45 alongside next year if they lock down the funding.

Grosjean sounds close to a lock for the #28 and may become a factory HPD driver like Rossi, possibly running in IMSA’s enduros. De Francesco has surprisingly good odds for the #29, I think he’s another year of Lights away though.

AMSP are building up for a third car but might not pull the trigger if they feel they can’t find a driver they really value.

Is this the first time Indy takes like 2 months off? I cant even remember the last race anymore wtf

Toronto on the 11th was cancelled, then a few weeks off mostly for NBC’s Olympic break. Pretty tough because I think they’re best off condensing the schedule and finishing the season on Labor Day weekend.

Juncos return to the series after partnering with healthcare CEO Brad Hollinger. Hollinger was the second-biggest shareholder of Williams F1 before the sale of the team during the 2020 season.

Need a third OEM. Great to see more teams, but with more teams has to be a strain for GM and Honda.

Honda is getting up to 15 for races now, I remember when they said 13 was pushing it. Need someone else to jump in pretty badly, for sure.

two more crashes for jimmie,i wish he would go to imsa before he gets hurt.his family must be hating this.

Damn straight.
If there were a Hy-Vee anywhere near me I’d support them, because they’ve done a lot for Rahal and the series in a short period of time.

HyVee is mid-western as hell.

I appreciate them for doing what they are doing though, major kudos to everyone involved.
