The NASCAR Rule book, Sections 12.8.g and 12.8.1 of the NASCAR rule book, which addresses manipulating the outcome of a race, appears to have been violated by Chase Elliot.

Will NASCAR do anything about it? Personally, back in the day of "real" NASCAR when they called this section against Michael Waltrip, they most certainly would have. Elliot was even more blatant that Michael was, heck, he even admitted it in the post race interview. So did Larson, but he was benefactor so....

The incident recalls the 2013 incident in which Michael Waltrip Racing tried to rig the regular-season finale at Richmond to get Martin Truex Jr. into the playoffs. NASCAR punished the team and took the unprecedented step of kicking Truex out of the Chase in favor of Ryan Newman.

No, Chase just held his line.

No, Chase just held his line.
No he did not, he tried to go between a lapped car and Harvick in a non existent line. He pinched Harvick in a place where there is no room to pinch. Harvick maintained his line, not the other way around.
Why do you people suckle the media darlings?

Besides, Elliot admitted it in the post race interview that he held back Harvick to keep him from winning and giving his teammate a chance. Kyle confirmed that in his interview....they admitted to breaking Sections 12.8 g and 12.8.1...which is not relevant as to what happened 35 laps prior

Nothing will happen. This has happened two other times this year and the fans have reacted differently to each one.

I’m actually frustrated with how common this is becoming and it’s not good for the sport. Pretty soon, leaders are gonna have no choice but to start dumping lapped cars, which wouldn’t be good for anybody.

Boy if you think that was manipulation, better not watch Formula One.

I see nothing wrong with throwing a block so your teammate can make a pass, it's part of the sport. Shake and bake

I don’t think this is going to be the majority opinion if someone holds Chase up to help someone else pass him.

Now that we’ve seen this is how Ganassi and Hendrick are gonna be, I’d expect Penske and Gibbs to do the same.

Yes, he manipulated the **** out of the race. No, nothing should be done about it. Yes, it was stupid of Chase to enable the title favorite to even sniff the checkers. Harvick is harmless this year, Larson is the favorite. The Who's Dick is Bigger show might end up costing Chase.

Maybe so, but at the end of the day, sadly it happens. Might not have been right but at the same time Chase has to stand up for himself or people will run all over him. If I was a driver and I saw a driver wouldn’t do **** if someone did something to him, I wouldn’t race them clean at all because I know it wouldn’t come back to bite me. If I know a driver will get revenge, then I’ll do anything I can to make sure I do race them clean.

Harvick ruined Chase's night, so Chase cost Harvick a victory. The alternative would have just been to dump Harvick and cost him even more. Kind of like making sausage, it's not always pretty, but if you feel you have been wronged, you don't have too many courses of action that won't risk getting somebody hurt, screwing up innocent parties or getting a fine or suspension. I would rather it not happen, but it's not like it hasn't many times over. As Blaze just said, you simply cannot allow other drivers to think they can use you for a door mat.

I don't think it was about that. I don't think Chase is worried about standing up for himself. Chase was pissed and wanted to screw Harvick's race which he did....and you know what....that's okay. What drives me nuts is turning it into something that is more noble than it is because that fits Chase's brand. I think he's a good dude, and a very good driver, but he isn't on a higher moral plane than anybody else. My two cents....

Who cares? Unless it's blatant enough like what Bowyer did at Richmond, it's irrelevant. Did the 9 cause a yellow? No. Did the 9 impede the 4 from getting around the track? No.

Whenever any driver races another driver in an aggressive manner, technically you can call it manipulation if you want.

This is silly. But the anti-Hendrick crowd needs something to cry about, as always.

Not going to derail a thread, but you know this narrative is different with drives who have different "brands" shall we way.....

When did this anti-Hendrick crowd become a thing? Is there an application that needs to be filled out? Laughable. Chase picked with Harvick's win. He knew what he was doing. We all knew what he was doing. The Harvick crowd is pissed, and deserves to be pissed. It's what makes this sport fun.

Maybe not, but I mean at the same time, Harvick might remember it, and try better to control his car better next time. All drivers have their moments, Chase messed up at the same track last year with Joey, and that was 100% on Chase, and Joey had every single right to be mad. Kev last night messed up, paid for it, and hopefully both drivers can move on and race each other clean the rest of the playoffs.

Harvick has not been taught a lesson by Chase Elliott. Nope. That race was Kevin's to win. I think much of his anger was about the prospect of not winning this year, and honestly, I like that. OMG.....am I actually defending Harvick? This world is truly ****** up now....

Who knows, we'll see what happens over the next few 7 races. As I said, I hope both of them move on from it. Fan of both so I really would hate to see them both cost each other anything further.

Gave him a lane. Not much you can do if you are NASCAR but he did hold up the 4, kinda goes with the territory when you end a guys night.
Exactly.

Where was this when Kurt won at Atlanta? No one said a word about Chastain doing the same thing for Kurt.

This is no different, if they call this that should have been called prior to this.

I’ll be fair and say I THINK if I remember, Chastain was on the lead lap, or at most 1 lap down. Not two. But I am sure he was on the lead lap still.

I think you're right, but still he was blatantly in front of Kyle Busch creating the wake of dirty air allowing Kurt to pass.

In a sense, its still manipulation because without that it was less likely Kurt would have won. At the same time, its still being considered a teammate in helping the team win.

Just saying, if that happens all blocking in that form or fashion will need to be penalized. Especially if its blatant on the tail-end of the lead lap or not.

In that video, I heard Harvick say "you're always on the offense. Who's ****** car got tore up last week?"

Then there's that white shirted clown ass throwing his head back with sass every time Chase says something.

He's that little kid who wants to be popular who repeats everything the popular kid says. What a side kick

Well, I watched the remaining race again from where they banged together through the checker. Multiple times.

When Harvick and Chase hit, Harvick was going for the upper groove entry into the turn while Chase was going for almost the same trajectory. Harvick pushed Chase up a bit which was likely momentum but could have been intentional. Happening that fast and headed toward the corner, hard to say. The result was bad, and Harvick does tend to ride people up the track on passes. Chase was trying to fend off a challenger. I still say that’s racing.

I didn’t see Elliott do anything outrageous to impede Harvick as he was being run down by Larson. Yes he got in front of KH during a spot where there was a lapped car, but that’s something any faster car would do. I’m sure Chase wasn’t going to make it easy, nor should he. Frankly near the end Larson was faster than Happy.

Had Harvick stayed lower during his pass of Elliott it might have taken him a couple more laps to get around, but it would have happened. And during that battle, Larson likely would have closed up and possibly still challenged for the win. Just good hard racing to me.

Gonna go with my boy @StandOnIt sarcastic **** about JGR family.....I don't think those guys would do that for one another. Am I right, @StandOnIt? Can't work both ways!
Judging by what Nascar let Kyle dam Busch's bunch get away with in the truck race. add that to what happened last night. I think what happened last night was exactly what they wanted. The old school against the Nascar jesus. They couldn't have hoped for a better situation unless somehow KDB was also in on it.

The fans loved that, because Ross is a fan favorite and he did it to the sport's heel.

The week after, fans were furious and wanting penalties for Austin Dillon doing the same thing to Aric Almirola.

Moral plane? Jeez. This is being blown out of proportion precisely because it’s Chase. Starting with Denny after Martinsville, Chase adopted an attitude of “F around and find out.” His revenges are very calculated and measured. He doesn’t flat dump people like a Harvick. He goaded Denny into wrecking himself. He ran a line that took away Harvick’s exit last night, and Harv couldn’t get around it. Use the bumper if you’re such a badass. We know Harv has no issue trying to wreck someone in the playoffs. (Dega, Martinsville). Every issue he’s had was something that brewed a while and came to a head. He was 100% wrong dumping Joey, but from scanner talk that was a couple weeks coming as Joey had roughed him up several times including a couple at that Bristol race. He’s most popular driver by far, so that creates a wave of hate as well. That I get. I think Chase embraces it as well. Harvick didn’t phase him a lick running up yelling. Watch his body language. No helmet and relaxed, as he knew Harv was all bark and zero bite.

I hope both of them pound the **** out of each other. Now is not the time to go soft.

Well I believe you dislike both of them so of course you would haha. It be me if it was Joey and Kyle and hoping they take each other out lol. As a fan of both Chase and Kevin in like please just don’t do anything dumb.

See, even when Chase is being a dick, he does it with an unmatched class. I don't hate the guy. I hate the narrative. Chase wasn't phased because as you accurately pointed out....Harv doesn't do **** ever....None of them do. Chase doesn't have any kind of attitude. He gets pissed just like everybody, and then reacts in the testosterone infused moment. Even when you point out his wrong (with Joey), he's right (it had been brewing). Chase got pissed, and helped the title favorite win.
