College Football 2021

1997? Many claimed national titles before that, the whole Bo Schembechler era was filled with success??

Dang the BCS national title game and Playoff system has really killed a lot of fun for college football in my opinion
Ok, you mentioned they were in it every year. I was just clarifying. 1997 was 24 years ago, man.

Not sure how more college football has killed the fun. Your gonna have to explain that one

Manny Diaz trying to keep his job at Miami - Canes beat NC State last week and up two scores at Pitt now. Consecutive ranked wins would be big for them, and mean Wake would be the only ACC team with CFP hopes left.

Gonna go ahead and say it Stenson Bennet is not the #1 quarterback for Georgia! Only way your gonna beat Alabama in SEC championship game is to play JT. Daniels!

Yep, JT makes the offense more dynamic. Would still be close against or better than anyone else with that all-time defense though.

lol 2 teams with a lost in over an undefeated team

You have to post their whole rankings to see what they did to make sense of it. Mississippi State is ranked #17 by the committee when they are ranked #29 and #32 by the AP and Coaches’ Polls. This is the HIGHEST A 3-LOSS TEAM HAS EVER DEBUTED IN THE CFP RANKINGS, and coincidently a team Alabama has smacked (gives them two Top 25 wins - also beat Ole Miss). Holy **** was I wrong at what lengths they would go to to help Alabama. The committee is far and away worse than the BCS formula for selecting teams. I can absolutely see them putting an 11-2 Alabama team in now.

So uhh I told ya so. The committee loves them some Bama. Georgia and Bama are locks. Cincy is out no matter what basically
I mean I guess I should’ve seen it coming but this is their worst one yet. It’s clear to me they they reach a conclusion and work backwards to justify it. Besides Moo State aiding Bama it’s evident they also used Fresno to help boost Oregon’s ranking while SMU and Houston are nowhere to be found despite being ranked by both the AP and Coaches.

That’s been college football for a while. Follow the money.

12 team playoff would be cool, but they’d out the SMU, USF, Boise State, Air Force type teams that have a 12-0 year.

The G5 needs to do their own NIT style playoff

Not many people are thrilled with this besides the SEC and it’s fans.

Pretty funny how much Wake Forest is getting disrespected. Maybe undefeated Wake vs Cincy?

Yeah kinda funny how Fresno & SDSU are ranked high and SMU & Houston aren’t LOL.

Oklahoma is ranked low too.

It’s egregious to me how much love there is towards the Big Ten & SEC.

Maybe they need a Power 2, Good 3, Mediocre 5 structure? In all seriousness I guess a 12 team playoff is the answer, but that dilutes the regular season over a 8 team (6 conference champs, 2 wild cards) system.

Why is Wisconsin 5-3 and at #21 in the rankings ahead of Fresno State & San Diego State and an UNDEFEATED UTSA team.

This disrespect is absurd towards non BCS conferences. Cincinnati beat Notre Dame! Oklahoma barely got by Tulane at home! Why do the Bearcats have to blow everyone out but it’s okay if Oklahoma doesn’t? The whole thing is rigged to prevent a smaller school from making the championship

Yup

Minnesota has two wins over winning teams (Purdue and Maryland) and lost to a 3-6 MAC team and are #20. It’s blatant lol. Because Ohio State beat them.

If Clemson had Wake’s résumé they’d be a Top 5 team too. Even ESPN’s own Strength of Record metric has Wake’s body of work at #5 right now.

You know why Wake is ranked so low, because their stadium is small and it’s a small fanbase LOL. 31,500 is a lot different than Death Valley.

Alabama’s OOC is putrid & the SEC looks good because they play 3 mediocre FBS/FCS teams a year typically. I will give Georgia credit, they have a decent resume.

They must go to an 8 team playoff, and I wish it was a 6-2 format with a few exemptions/rules for the G5/Notre Dame (Indy’s).

Versus…

That is the most damning evidence of committee bias, setting the table for 1-loss bcs conference champs and exposing themselves once again. However, they do love to play musical chairs in the rankings to create talk, if Cincy does win out and multiple of these teams drop games, they can move ahead of 2-loss teams, they know that. The fact that they require that type of help for Cincy, while not losing a game is atrocious ranking.

If you're Oklahoma you aren't happy with #8 either (so at least it's not only Cincy they're downgrading) #2 down to #6, #3 in BCS down to #8. By the end, hopefully it all still shakes out with games played like it often does, but it's obvious who they are wanting and giving edges to. Just another argument in favor of playoff expansion.

Obvious question will be how many drop games in the top 8 and what games will that be, if Bama drops 1 before Georgia, I don't see them making it provided other's keep winning, if Bama only loses to Georgia, it's much closer but I don't think they make it (provided other's keep winning). Committee would be hard pressed to option for 2-loss Bama versus a high-ranked undefeated that's been on the national scene since the beginning of the season imo.

Scenario: 1 loss big ten champ MichiganSt/OhioSt/Michigan in. Oregon 1 loss pac champ in. Georgia sec champ in. All of that can easily get blown up.

4th playoff spot between Oklahoma/Cincy, Sooners have the SOS to leap frog Cincy if they remain unbeaten. If you're Cincy, just keep winning your games convincingly and control what you can control, style points matter at this point.

I’ve been on the Wake Forest bandwagon but ehhhhh so far not surprised
Fun game though. UNC is the most talented team they’ve played so far. I like watching Sam Hartman and Sam Howell go at it.

Minnesota is down 14-0 at home to Illinois…

Ohio State only up 7 at the half on Nebraska
