Cup Races Too Long?

It takes football about 3-1/2 hours to play a 60 minute game. It takes baseball over 3 hours to play 9 innings. I think most NASCAR races fall in that range. F1 races take exactly 2 hours.

Short memory. It wasn't that long ago that a third, ONE THIRD of the race was covered with cautions before they implemented the stages to alleviate MOST of the commercials covering up the racing. Some need to grow up and remember who is paying the majority of the bills. I don't like commercials either, but it's stupid when everybody knows what the deal is and continues to act like two year olds over it.
You calling people 2 year olds, now that is funny! Pot kettle to the extreme!

More times than I should I question how much they value entertainment over competition

It’s fake scheduled cautions that interrupt competition and neutered “racecars” with aero problems.
yeah that seems to drive some people crazy for sure. They probably go around mumbling gimmicks gimmicks all day long

If they had hawt wimmins dancing on the pace car or on a pace flatbed trailer it wouldnt be so bad.

If she could do rabbit ear poses (very flexibile with feet behind head and toes curled to resemble tabbit ears) it would even be spiritual cautions and we would all live happily ever after.

The only thing time wise that kills me is the cautions. Shouldn’t take seven laps to clean up a one car crash, this isn’t Podunk Fairgrounds Raceway.

I think you are on to something there.

you talk like a broken record about things you can't do anything about. What a waste
You’re the other side of the spectrum. You waste bandwidth here trying to convince everyone that the racing is awesome and everything’s great.
Read the rate thread from Richmond and gain a little perspective.

So enjoying a race makes you miserable..that's pitiful, you will have to deal with it, misery loves company as they say

Miserable? No.
Unlike you, I have options. I don’t have to sit home and watch the race every weekend.
Get out the house, pops.

That's great that you get out of the house and try to make others miserable. We never miss ya lol

You do realize you do just the opposite of what you are accusing him of. You spend so much time here trying to convince everyone that the racing sucks and everything is terrible. It's a good thing some of us just ignore it and still enjoy the racing or you wouldn't have a race to complain about. I could understand you not liking a race once in a while but it's just about every race. There is no way I would ever stay with a sport that displeased me as much as NASCAR has displeased you. No need to try and convince me that I'm wrong because the proof is in all of your race thread posts and your rate the race numbers for many years. ;)

BTW, I quit watching drag racing when they shortened the track, and my dad was a drag racer.

He's a real jewel, like I told him, we don't miss him when he is gone ;)

I have already read the rate Richmond. I don't watch very much drag racing anymore myself so what is the point you are trying to make?

Not all motorsports is good racing.
Just being truthful about my posts.

They've already shortened a ton of races...

Dover
Pocono
Auto Club
Martinsville
Bristol Dirt compared to Bristol asphalt in spring

Also we've lost 500-milers with tracks going to one date like Texas, Atlanta (second race this year is a 400), the Charlotte fall race is no more.

It was a bit ridiculous in the 2000-2008 timeframe when literally every other week was a 500 mile slog. We were in a good place.

Stages are a big reason the races are longer. The cars are also significantly slower than the high HP days... 1-1.5 seconds a lap slower at the big tracks tacks adds on 5-10 minutes a race depending on its length. NASCAR could easily get this time back with a couple things... adding 2 gallons to the fuel cell, increasing caution pace by something meager like 5mph, etc.... doesn't have to be big changes.

That's all true, but I don't think Nascar wants to. As it is, they have drasticly shortened qualifying and practice and many race days. I think TV had a say in that part easier to program is my hunch.

I think everyone here probably already knows that. I'm lucky to handle 1 lap of F-1 but I don't feel the need to go to the open wheel thread every week and try to make the fans that do enjoy it feel like they shouldn't because I don't.

I don’t watch open wheel because I find it boring af. I guess we’re on the same page about open wheel.
