Interest builds around possible changes to NASCAR schedule

23XI is owned by MJ, he is an employee of MJ's. Guess whos name is synonmus with Chicago? Michael Jeffery Jordan.

Also, McDonald's sponsors the team and lord behold Hamburger University is in downtown Chicago. The company has a big presence.

Goodness.
My comment about the people who hate Bubba stands

Combine 1 and 6 and you have a figure 8

I've been looking at the Chicago Street race that they did on iRacing a while back.

That course through Grant Park doesn't lend itself to much more than a follow-the-leader type race.

Where do spectators park in a street course race? I mean, I've been to Chicago and parking is crazy expensive! I've always enjoyed NASCAR due to the free parking, but traffic and parking seems like it'd be a mess.

IMSA will be there as well, a GT event only.
Glad they’re seemingly dropping Mid-Ohio for the IMS Roval and then getting dragged along by NASCAR to play support to their newfangled street race. Which, judging by the date, means this is replacing Mosport. Sweet.

So I’m guessing it’s not like Trois-Rivères with the Pinty’s Series in Canada. That track is excellent due to runoffs.

Traffic getting to downtown on a holiday weekend for this race will be an epic nightmare. You have this race, the fireworks show AND I think the Taste of Chicago all going on at the same time as well as families looking to go to the beaches. You thought the traffic at Kentucky was bad getting out of the track? Buckle up for this one. It's challenging getting to the city by car on a random Friday or Saturday night, let alone a holiday weekend. But Kudos to NASCAR they somehow got the city to let them use Lake Shore Drive on one of the busiest weekends of the year.

also condolences to the Road America/Wisconsin Racing fans... you all packed the hell out of that place and got your reward. It's $hitty but I think NASCAR needed Road America more than Road America needed NASCAR Cup. The Indy Car weekend seemed way cooler anyways.

Chicago Street Course race announced an IMSA race, but didn’t say anything about Xfinity or Trucks.

Perhaps a standalone race at Road America for the Xfinity Series? It would give NXS more identity as much as people hate seeing the Cup Series leave.

7 hair pin turns, gonna put that new brake package through its paces. Lots of dive bomb opportunities.

I would have preferred Detroit Street lose the IMSA race to Chicago Street. It’s dumb. Leaving Belle Isle sucks for IMSA and they have Indy Lights/USF2000/TransAm/Indy Pro 2000/Stadium Super Trucks as support races that weekend if needed.

I've been to a couple of street races for both IMSA and Indycar in the past, but none of those hold the problem of parking like Chicago does/will.

Last street race I went to was Long Beach in 2016 for Indycar/IMSA and what I found was easiest was just to Uber to the track and back from the hotel.

No argument here, I expected some backlash and honestly forgot about the Jordan connection.
Even forgot about McDonald's in spite of working near and going to the corporate headquarters in the late 70s and early 80s where it was the only one I knew you could get a beer and popcorn. They also were testing the McRib before rolling it out.
Been outside my element on some posts recently. Gotta clean up my act.

This is an ideal track for a NASCAR road course. Lots of passing and places for bent sheet metal. My only concern is the lack of runoff, but if you take the circuit map by itself it's fine.

Yeah it is super wide in spots, 8 and 10 look like a super chicane. I bet there is some action in those two pinch down spots.

You know NASCAR literally owns IMSA, right?

For us locals, public transportation is all part of life in the big city.

The Metra Electric and South Shore commuter rail lines coming downtown from the south side terminate at Millennium Station, a short walk from the street course in Grant Park.

There's plenty of parking in the Grant Park underground garage but getting into it will be hampered by all the street closures related to the race itself.

Parking at nearby Soldier Field might also be a possibility.

I would think there will be plenty of shuttle buses for park and rides.
