Cup RACE thread --- Darlington

Looks like I missed a good one!

Nice top tens for McDowell, Keselowski and Wallace. I've never been a Keselowski fan, but he's really struggled with this new team, so it's good to see him have a good run. Can't believe that one race in and Chase Elliott has all but given up that lead he had over the chase field and especially that 12th place cutoff. Not a great run by Larson, but to come back from being 3 laps down to finish 12th is pretty amazing. Good to see Byron have a solid day and picking up some much needed points. Some decent finishes the next two week and he shouldn't have a problem advancing to the next round. Kansas is one of his better tracks, so that'll help.

So the biggest KFB fan on the forum, @Thegeneral23 just shows up out of the woodwork after YEARS of absence, just to complain about how no one but the GOAT deserved this race....then just disappears again?

XD.

When’s the last time the 43 won on speed and not by rain? Andretti in 99?

It was alluded to earlier, but shoutout for Michael McDowell for running top 10 last night. Also I thought Keselowski finished in the top 10 too, saw him running there throughout the night. But back to McDowell, they’ve really showed some speed during the summer months

Last years 32nd place STP throwback car at Darlington driven by Jones.
That would have been something to see an STP car in the winners circle
with confetti all over it. Missed that photo op by one year.

Good news is he's been in this position before so they know what they need to do these next 2 weeks and both are good tracks for them. Even better news is he'll get a points reset if he advances.

Chase is gonna win Kansas.

I just want to say, Larson needs to be a bit more positive... called this the "second worst race of my life". How? Why?

While he did say "I guess it could have been worse", dude needs to keep his head in the game and stop bitching. Started the race with a 13th place car, went 3 laps down, fought back p11, pit at the very end for a loose wheel, fell to p19, and drove back to a p12 finish with top 5 pace the last 100 laps.

That's a damn good fight..yes, you had issues and probably compete for a win without losing the laps...but Cliff coached your ass and your team to a top 12 finish after a **** show of a day.

How about a "way to execute like a championship team".

That was a damn good showing by the 5 team, and by Larson all things considered. Keep your head up and be proud of yourself, the adjustments, and the execution. Damn champ!!

That's Larson. He just talks....and sometimes it gets him in trouble.

One year before I got married.

Yep, they showed something similar on TV. Certainly any sponsor would dream of this kind of reaction to a corporate representative. :sarcasm:
teams are falling all over themselves to hire him.:sarcasm: Nobody but the Yotas have said anything about hiring him for next year and it doesn't look like they are in any hurry to do so.

It’s a bit unclassy when they cheer for him wrecking though like it was at a race earlier this year, especially when his brother got kinda hurt in a crash.

People were cheering because they thought Bubba was running the McDonalds livery that weekend.

Come to find out it was Kurt and the mood of the situation shifted.

I got 98 and on Gordon vibes from this. Whenever JG had a calamity the fans in attendance seemed quick to voice their approval. At least Jeff was winning during that time period, Kyle hasnt won much lately.

No I mean there was a relentless amount of cheering for Kyle Busch and Austin Cindric into the wall hard at Michigan. I think all NASCAR fans in every market are like that for some reason regarding Kyle.

yeah poor Kyle. Seems like he is always in the wrong place at the wrong time. A sweeter guy there has never been.

There will always be grown, mature adults who are vocal about their hate for a certain driver.
