2022 Firestone Grand Prix of Monterrey

They should really end the season Labor Day weekend. This is better than running into October but what’s the point of shortening your schedule so much just to still wind up finishing directly against a Cup playoff race and NFL opening Sunday.

I respect your opinion but for me I don't watch the NFL and the Kansas track for NASCAR doesn't interest me but the final race at Laguna Seca to decide the Indycar championship is very exciting. And Indycar doesn't need a bogus playoff system to get to this point. Pretty cool.
Couldn’t agree more. I wish Indy Car season raced longer, this low key is my favorite series in racing...just can’t get enough of it. The last two seasons (actually feels like the last 5) or so have been so exciting. I’m bummed the season is so short, it feels like a long time until St. Petersburg.

The championship itself is great, I just hate that you minimize its visibility with how it’s scheduled. It’s pretty certainly a 30-40% viewership drop from most other races before this time of the year. Just not good for sponsors and everyone else involved to crown your champion that way.

I don't quite understand why they don't run the race on Saturday if they don't want to start it before 12 pm to avoid a collision with Cup.
Also no NFL on Saturday.

Laguna Seca is a great venue for the season finale though, one of the most iconic circuits in America.

Josef choked in the Corkscrew in Q1 group 1, will start from the back of the field tomorrow. Dixon was knocked out in Q1 by one spot as well.

Power grabs a bonus point and sole possession of the pole record. Shock front row start for Ilott and Juncos as well.

They’re expecting a whopping four stops come race time because of all the tire wear here. Last race on this surface before Laguna repaves over the offseason.

I'm sad that this is gonna be the last IndyCar race for half a year but there's plenty of things that should make this a good one.
Herta has owned this track since it rejoined the schedule. Could see him work his way to the front. Dixon has done that several times this year so he should also be a factor.
Newgarden has been the fastest driver on raw speed this season and I wouldn't be surprised at all if he wins tonight.

Power has the advantage but it ain't over 'til it's over.

Wow!! Dixon 24th??!! What happened??

Been watching football.

Still don't get why Newgarden didn't use his second set of sticker reds but this is a nice way to go out for Palou... IF he actually leaves Ganassi.
I think that would be a mistake. Being with Ganassi or Penske - doesn't get any better than that. We'll have to wait and see.
