Kyle Busch to RCR

In looking at it, this all kind of makes sense. I believe 100% that Kyle wanted to stay in the Toyota camp, but how could he? If he had stayed at JGR, he would be sitting next to Hamlin in competition meetings who would probably be making twice was Kyle would be getting. If Kyle went to 23XI, the same dude would be signing those checks. Kyle's ego would not allow that, and I probably can't blame him for that. The KBM piece is very interesting though. As nothing official has been announced, I would be worried if I was Kyle. Campbell and the Chevy kids would be in a huge bargaining positive position now. Doubtful that Chevy does for Kyle what Toyota did, and he will lose the Driver Development drivers and their sponsors. Staying with Toyota would have ensured the future that Kyle claimed was so important to him.....going to Chevy....well, let's just see what they do.
Other than the fact that I'm not totally sure Kyle would be in a JGR car in 2023 if he drove for crew per diem money, I tend to agree with your assessment. .

I read a lot of comments about RCR and Kyle. I for one think it is a great fit if pop pop gives Kyle all he gave Dale. Dale ran his #3 team, hired and dismissed personnel as he saw fit. I think this will work also for Kyle as long as Nascar lets the teams practice.
Holy smokes ,....he's back. Where ya been?

I have never thought of Dale and Kyle as being anything alike....but Richard needed a narrative. Let's see how it pans out.

...and sometimes people convince themselves of stuff in desperation.

Does it? Kyle is a one time winner this year. Kyle is high maintenance....I think that the edge was lost at JGR because he wore everybody down.....Where is the best crew chief he has ever had?....and he chose to leave the mess. Maybe Kyle can find something because everything will be new.....then there will be the first "**** you Richard," and then we will know if these kids have something that is more than a flash in the pan.

I've got all of @StandOnIt shots at Kyle all saved up, and ready for next season. I am betting big money however, that the narrative will be that Kyle will be a peach, and that all he needed was to get out of the JGR mess, and with a good owner who set him straight. Chocolate is working that bull**** too. I will love, however, listening to ole Choc choke on this for awhile. He ****** hates Kyle. Just wish I had some footage of what his faced looked like when he found out. Maybe Kyle can help him out in that museum or something. They can become besties....all because of that poor Richard who came from nothing.....blah, blah, blah.
You were a massive Kyle stan, like, 72 hours ago, and now he's basically worthless and not with the effort...

Okey dokey.

He couldn't stay at JGR. @Allenbaba already told us, there was no deal presented from the JGR side.

How did poor Richard afford it? Must have put in some extra hours bailing hay or something. Glad that he recovered from the obvious destitution of the Tyler Reddick era. See, if ya just work hard enough, you can have the American Dream.
When you can get a Kyle Busch, you find the money ( Johnny Morris) Now Joe will probably get some sponsor money from Norm and Monster to cover the bills and a Little out of pocket too. Kinda like Rick found the money to get Larson

Couldn't stay at JGR? Is that a kinder gentler way of saying he was fired? lol
Kinda strange how the players all said they were trying to get a deal done, Busch, Gibbs, Wilson but we learn through "the grapevine" there was no offer. Doesnt make sense, I think they made offer and it was unacceptable, maybe purposely due to the recent development of Ty getting to run some Cup races and for the most part doing fairly well so the thought process changed. If Kyle accepted then they save some money and Ty continues with the plan to run Xfinity one more year, If Kyle rejects Ty begins his career 1 year early. To just say no offer was made doesnt cut it and

I guarantee you Kyle Busch, who has no problem holding his tongue in the media would have said it he didnt get an offer.

Mars choosing not to re-up doesn't mean they "had had enough" of Kyle... Marketing budgets change and get reallocated all the time for various reasons.
Yeah, who knows why they left. Did Lowes have enough of Jimmie Johnson? My guess is that if M&M's re-ups, or if another sponsor of that level had stepped up, JGR probably grits their teeth and re-signs him, but I think they were looking for an excuse to get out, and if big money didn't just fall into their lap, that was their out. Toyota may well of wanted to keep him, who knows, but unless they were going to fund the car at M&M levels, JGR probably wasn't going to jump through too many hoops to piece a deal together for him. Also speculation, but as many people as Kyle has pissed of in public, how many
do you imagine he has pissed off behind closed doors? Also remember that Joe comes from football, and there probably a third or more of your team is new fresh meat every year, and being sentimental doesn't get you very far. Think of Kyle as the aging veteran QB who still has some gas in the tank, be costs you too much under the salary cap, so you cut him and a team desperate to make some playoff noise signs him up. Think Brady to Tampa Bay or Manning to Denver.

“I’d seen that look before, and watching Kyle, I’ve watched his talent since he started in the Busch (now Xfinity) Series, and just how he handles the car, the car control, the way he drives the car and take-no-prisoners attitude, that’s the Dale Earnhardt style I was accustomed to racing with, and I think Kyle has that modern-day style of racing that Dale Earnhardt had in his time.”
-Richard Childress
The KB - Dale Sr comparisons never made any sense..

KB throws tempers. But he's always raced pretty cleanly on the track, and his competitors never really were intimidated by him. He also was never the single dominant driver in the cup series.

Joey races more like Dale Sr than KB ever did, if we are talking style.

Did TRD want KDB anymore? I mean, M&M Mars had had enough.
According to Kyle, the 18 was not even available to him.

@StandOnIt may have been on to something. Now that the winning has slowed dramatically (a career 10% win rate dropping to just 4% these last 120 races), Joe may have just thought he wasn't worth it anymore.

Kyle got fired. Cory Lajoie in the clip above says to Joey that Kyle got fired like Joey did. They created the monster, fed and nourished him, fought his battles for him and then when Kyle fell into a slump and they think they have some leverage, they cut his throat.
I agree with Cory, a pissed off Kyle has 4 or 5 wins in him next season and if his trucks do well for Chevy, ol' yota Wilson will be spitting out crow feathers

He has 4-5 wins in him if his head stays on straight and the cars are consistently capable.

Your full of crap again, but even if you were right.....This is a performance based business. Makes good business sense to jettison the high cost pain in the ass who isn't winning anymore for a younger driver with a bigger future at a fraction of the cost. As for Joey? Similar deal....He had his shot. He missed at JGR. Went on to Penske....Same deal on Erik Jones.....The victim mentality is silly. Funny how you haven't talked about poor old Richard's screw job on Reddick. Speaks to who he is.

We have been down this road before with Kyle. What does he mean when he says it wasn't available? Did Coach tell him to take a hike, or was the offer so out of the question that it, in effect, made the 18 unavailable? Kyle is playing the media, and JGR is too classy to fight back.

How do you figure Childress screwed Reddick?

How did he screw Reddick? He still has a ride and is getting paid. Reddick is the one who dropped the Bomb on RC.

However you want to phrase it, it means the same thing. JGR had rode the Kyle Busch train as far as they wanted to, and were ready to get off. For PR reasons, I'm sure JGR didn't want to just come out and say "we don't want Kyle Busch here anymore," so not finding enough sponsorship money is a convenient (and probably not too far from the truth) excuse. If they still wanted him bad enough, they would have found a way. Brett Griffin flat out said that Toyota could have written a check if they REALLY wanted to. I think they were all just ready to move on.

Some people figure that, because Reddick has had his Cup success in the #8 car, the #8 is part of Reddick's brand identity. So Childress placing Busch into the #8 next year (and presumably placing Reddick into a car with a number that has little if any recent success history) hurts Reddick's brand. Some are already assuming that Reddick will not get the same level of support in his new car, particularly if Busch inherits Reddick's current crew chief and team.

Personally I'm not so tied up into "brand identity" - particularly when a driver has a relatively short success history. I look at it more as an opportunity for Reddick to increase his "brand" - if he can do well while appearing to have lesser support that makes him look more credible.

Well good thing Joe Gibbs can associate himself with Dan Snyder and the circus over there in DC / Landover Maryland. LOL

LMAO at your hypocrisy @Revman. A couple days ago, you were bloviating ad nauseam about how the throats you cut in a business setting say nothing at all about what or who the man is. But that was about Preacher Joe, and Richard Childress isn't your guy... so now it's different. LMAO.

Some interesting thoughts in this thread.

Me personally, I think KDB finally let his Mocking Bird Mouth overload his Tweety Bird Ass. JMHO

On another note, KDB seems to have not figured out the edge on the new car.

Totally fair point. Allow me to edit....speaks to the businessman he is. I sincerely appreciate you pointing that out. I believe that these NASCAR characters are brands. They promote a certain something that sells. I do believe that that brand does not necessarily reflect who the person is....but in regard the Reddick issue and screwing with a guy's career out of spite....well, each member can draw their own conclusions as they have time and again with Coach.

Why would JGR care about the PR? David Wilson pointed out that if they really wanted to, why wouldn't they flood the field with Toyotas, and win every week? It doesn't work that way for Toyota, but, you know...the narrative. The only thing that speaks to a culture issue with Kyle at JGR is that Stevens went to Bell by his own accord. That was shocking, and speaks to how high the maintenance has been. Having said all of that, I would imagine that the reasons that Kyle is out are multi-factorial....IF they could have had him at a bargain, it would have been more convenient to keep him. They couldn't, and Ty quickly became a viable alternative early.

Double birds to Joe Gibbs in victory lane would be ideal
Why would Kyle be pissed at Joe Gibbs? He took him when nobody else would, and kept him when he probably shouldn't have.
