Race pics and experiences

*product....Good God...and I haven't even had my pre-flight drink yet.

Arizona is a nice state and has a lot of cool desert vibe / southwestern scenery.

I’d like to sit on the mountain in turns 1-2 (old 3-4) next time I go to Avondale.

I love it here. After the rain earlier today, the air is so clear. The desert sky at night is indescribable. So cool. Can't wait to get to the track tomorrow. First time at the track since COVID....

Camelback Mountain looks fun if I can get back there to do something outside the track

I am the crappiest photographer in the history of the world, but I so love watching the cars get set up/torn down. I love this sport.

It had been so long since I had been to a track. That desert dust got in my eye when I walked in. I live for this....and I can't believe that I am going to be watching the Championship in person. Truck race was good (if not disappointing for MY Toyotas). Ty was lights out in practice.....I think this place might come apart if he wins today. C Bell lost yesterday, but Adam is plugging in Denny/Kyle set up. If he qualifies well, he'll be okay.

Ty got it done....and the place came apart....kinda....only one beer made it to the track. Hell of a race. The kid is different. Visibly brilliant on track.

Ty Gibbs is being groomed by the Gibbs organization to be the champion he is and will go on to be in other series.
His youth and simple fact he has been spoiled slip in one in awhile but he will grow with maturity. Right now he has had instant success and is a shooting star that will be slowed down a bit.
Some of the brashness crept through even though he said all the right things during the on track interview but has to improve to come across a real champion than the one we saw step up in Martinsville. He'll get there. His passion is real and his ability seems natural. What he must learn is to accept defeat as part of the game.

I think as such, he has done what many 20 year olds have done...."Yeah, yeah, yeah....I get it," until they realized they don't, and Dad takes the car keys. Thing is that Ty has millions watching....No excused, but typical of many 20 year olds.....some are exceptional....Chase Elliott as an example, but many (maybe most) have their heads up their asses.....I mean as I was watching the Champion's stage....He is flanked by Monster Girls....I mean, really....20 years old... champion....fame.....He hasn't handled it as well as he should have, but I do think we will look back in 20 years, and say, "He was such a ****head," but look at him now.

More pics later peeps, back to the grind today. An amazing weekend.....of course, the Cup result was a little disappointing....kind of....more later. Let me just say this before I have a chance to post more later. Phoenix gets it. The fan experience is epic. My seats were amazing (Start/Finish, high up), and the infield experience is as it should be.....I will be watching cars navigating Turns 3 and 4 today in my head today while I am supposed to be working.

My Bride and I decided at the last minute to go to the inaugural Phoenix race and bought tickets that were touted as "great seats up above the track and right on the start/finish line !"
Turned out it was first row and we got all the rubber and sand flying in our faces!

Despite the mini sandstorm and barrage of rubber chunks, we were up close and personal as Alan Kulwicki won his first ever NASCAR Winston Cup race and did the Polish Victory Lap.
The nest year I was involved with a team and had much more comfortable race watching arrangements. ;)

The Grand Canyon does not suck. Go there if you haven't.

Just renewed for 2023 Championship....Counting the days.

Renewed.....Fontana, Portland, Sonoma, and Phoenix. Come on 2023.....let's go!!!!!! I love this sport so much.

Went to the Rolex 24 and never seen so many people before for this event. I was stuck for 30 minutes in the garages because I couldn’t move from the people waiting for the gates to open for the grid walk.

Tough weather. MY guys were destroyed. The winner is a tough pill to swallow. I was at a race, however, and life couldn't have been more perfect. I watch for the competition--the thrill of the possibility of winning. It was a thrilling race. Winning is icing on the cake. The cake was good--I didn't get the icing. I am here for the fight. Bring on Vegas.

A refreshing analogy. One that beats out the myriad of whiners that post insane ramblings when rating a race because their guy didn't win it. There is so much more happening than simply pulling for one, or more, drivers. That is what racing is all about.

Nice track pic of the late great Auto Club Speedway catching the sun breaking thru on a bombardment of weather week.

Farewell to the 2 mile in it's final race, I hope the opportunity to create a track that holds the same character in it's replacement is taken advantage of and made even better than this one was.

But remember,....NASCAR fans wanted short tracks, right? A shame. Money doesn't talk...it screams. I saw my first ever NASCAR race here. It was hard to say good-bye.

The same thing happened to Langhorne Speedway in Pennsylvania. Too much land for a racetrack and parking. Property was worth far more to a developer. A short track is always good yet Fontana was a fun track and one of the few over 1 mile in length that continuously produced good racing.

Yes, nascar fans wanted more short tracks, but not at the expense of a track that already put on a great show. Why didn't they make Texas into a short track?

Great weekend in Atlanta

Perhaps a silver Sharpie next time you get the chance. Or maybe it is silver. I looked and I have a Martin Truex signed silver on black and it doesn't show up much either.

My oldest brother went. He has had several strokes in the past couple of years. He walks slowly, can't use his right arm, has some control over the left arm. His biggest lost was his speech. Somethings he gets it right, other times you can't understand what he said. Anyways, his oldest son brought suite tickets and pushed him around in a wheelchair. His middle son brought his camper so they all hung out before and after the race. He was tired out but I am so proud of him going, He has always been a huge Nascar fan. Take advantage while you can folks.

So it was a silver sharpie; I brought one after the last time I got my hat autographed in a color that barely shows up. For some reason when Brad signed it it barely worked but when Josh Berry signed my Race pack later, it came out perfect. Weird

Great pictures. Appreciated the photo of King Richard's car from his last race. I was there for that race. It was also Jeff Gordon's first race in the NASCAR Cup Series and I thought at the time how great it was because I had watched Jeff race midgets and sprint cars on ESPN and saw his raw talent. Turned out to be a good day even though Richard didn't fare so well in his swan song race. He went out a winner anyway. The fans genuinely showed him their appreciation and it was almost sad to see him end his career especially since I am a year older than he. I began following him in 1958 and when on a tip south in 1963, drive through Level Cross just so see where Lee Petty lived and the garage. It wasn't much of an operation back then. Just a white clapboard, two story house and small garage alongside but nicely kept.
