Enough Is Enough Full Season Championship.

Instead, here is what they are looking at.

Why did NASCAR move away from a 36 race total points driver’s championship?

What would it take for them to revert to that system?

Matt Kenseth. The more I think about it though, the more I wouldn't mind a 35+1. I think F1's season long push actually helps to build the drama in the Summer, especially with where it stands now at just an 8 point gap. I'd argue F1 is still living on the success of the Hamilton/Verstappen last lap battle from a few years ago

Matt Kenseth.
And don't any of you forget it!!! :D

For some forgotten reason, yesterday I was looking at how the world's largest soccer leagues operate. Almost none of them have any form of playoffs. League champions are decided entirely within the regular season based on a system of 3 points for each win, 1 for each tie. Apparently that's good enough for the most popular sport in the world.

Of course I would prefer something similar to the Latford Scale but I’ve adapted quite well to the current system. I watch each race of as a standalone event that doesn’t lead to playoffs or champs. I couldn’t tell you who the current champ is or the 10 before him as it’s not on my radar. Over the years Nascar has made it harder & harder to be a fan but I’m still here!

"But if Driver X clinches the championship two weeks early, I'll tune out!!"
Ya know, I started watching an F1 race this weekend with no knowledge of who was leading the points or how many races remained. That didn't stop me from enjoying it. Sure, there are other reasons I don't normally watch F1 but points standings have never been one of them.

I've had delightful evenings at unfamiliar short tracks when travelling, with no clue or care who was who. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

A race is a race. Whether or not the championship is already decided isn't going to run me off. Just me, I guess.

Pretty much any other racing series you watch might announce the points leader once or twice during or after the race. With Nascar on the other hand you are force fed points before, during and after the races. Nobody does that.

Sometimes ignorance is bliss, I couldnt tell you who is leading WoO in points but it sure is fun to watch when I can watch the races.

The second most useless statistic in sports is 'Standings while competition is still going on', including 'Points as they're running now'.

The first? How high a golfer has hit the ball.

How 'bout the speed at which a baseball comes off the bat: "exit velocity"

My apologies, baseball stats are a wholw 'nuther critter.

Doubles hit off left-handed pitchers on the second at-bat in domed AL stadiums after the All-Star break at high tide wearing boxers.

Wonder if he does better with said boxers stained or unstained? Which hole is the leak coming from?

The problem for me is the booth is like a dog with a bone. Once they get onto something they won’t let it go. Fortunately we have remote controls with mute buttons!

I use PRN or NPR. They mention playoffs but the whole race doesn't revolve around playoff raz ma taz or cut lines, brackets and other stick n ball type nonsense. The radio people actually are educated enough to talk about the actual racing to fill the time. Their pit reporters do a much better job of staying in touch with the racing teams and passing on what is going on when some teams are having troubles during the race.
