NFL 2025-26

Two instances (@ Dallas) now in this very young season where the Giants had a lead with half a minute remaining and lost. Coaching malpractice.

I'm not even sure you're supposed to try to score on first and goal anymore in that situation. The missed XPs are obviously the real killer. But in this new cartoon NFL in which 31 seconds and no timeouts is plenty of time, you bleed the clock there.

I'm not sure what's happened in football in the last few seasons where every defense forgets what their job is in these types of situations but it's become a thing every week.

I never thought I would be wondering if a team should just let the offense score within the last minute of a game but it crossed my mind on that 1st and Goal.

The Broncos have now dropped one they shouldn't have lost (Colts) and stole two with astounding comebacks after getting pounded for three quarters (Eagles and Giants). It's wild how horrible and great Nix can look in the same game. They are very beatable, but opponents need to remember to never let their foot off the gas against them.

How many teams are just letting opponents waltz into the end zone in that situation nowadays knowing they have plenty of time to answer?

I know we get the “FIRE EVERYONE” posts from certain posters, but honestly giving up 33 points in the 4th and allowing a comeback like that definitely deserves a firing.
Daboll and co. were already on the hot seat before getting somewhat of a reprieve after shocking the Eagles. That was by any measure a historic choke job today, so that’s probably the final straw if the Giants are serious about going somewhere with this young core.

Even as simple a decision as the kicker they chose to activate this weekend was just atrocious. Younghoe Koo is on the practice squad and a better choice than this freaking random Irish guy they found.

Yep. That loss should result in firings.

No stats for Kittle tonight, but the return of his run blocking helped CMC have his best output of the season thus far.

Very competitive division battle shaping up in the NFC West.

Texans vs. Seahawks….. 10pm et on Monday night? I love the NFL as much as the next guy but that’s ridiculous. A little late for this old man. Maybe it’s just me but I like the action packed Sundays and standalone games in prime time on, name your night, weeknights. I’ll be tuning into the Buccaneers vs. Lions scheduled @ 7pm et.

Funny, but that’s what I loved about hockey when I was subscribed to ESPN. Getting off work late at night and still having practically an entire game to watch with those West Coast games.

Jaguars loss to the Rams leads to bleak Trevor Lawrence forecast

Interesting article, which cites The Athletic. It's been reported in the past too that most coaches and most general managers don't see Trevor Lawrence as a NFL caliber starting quarterback. Other team's coaches have even said that the best way to beat Jacksonville is to put the game in Trevor Lawrence's hands.

Unfortunately, the Jags will have to ride this out this year. But with there already being talk about how to minimize the cap hit that comes with cutting Trevor Lawrence, and James Gladstone not being hesitant at all to trade away or cut players Baalke left him, I'd venture to say it appears they're already looking at a different direction for QB1 next year.

Not a lot of talk about the Patriots here but I've always liked Mike Vrabel and am not surprised he's turned things around there. Meanwhile, Tennessee continues to look like ass.

It's almost like the 2000s all over again with the Colts and Patriots looking dominant. Add in the Chiefs of course. Still, I don't see the Colts losing more than two more games this year. They've been a quarterback away from being the best team in the NFL for several years now.

Another team that's seemingly turned it around is Carolina, though I expected this one. Bryce Young was really starting to develop at the end of last year and the games were close. They should've beat the Chiefs last year but the refs did what they do best. I think, had the Panthers won that game, that would've immediately turned things around for them.

But some offseason changes and they are in the hunt. Baker Mayfield's on a warpath so the Bucs should still win that division, but the Panthers will probably get in on a wild card. Bryce Young looks really good and that defense is eating. I kept telling Panthers fans they'd beat the Cowboys and that would be a culture-changing win.

The Pats’ schedule the rest of the way is also comfortably the easiest in the league on paper. I wouldn’t be surprised if they ended up the #1 seed in the AFC. And everyone knows how tough Foxborough in January is.

Yeah. The only hesitation I have with the Colts at the #1 seed is they're facing a gauntlet in late-November and December. They've still got the Steelers, Chiefs, Seahawks, and 49ers to go. Plus the Texans twice though they should win those two games and the Jaguars twice, which they should also win easily as bad as the Jags look right now.

Lawrence is such an odd case because you can tell some of his decision-making and awareness hasn’t progressed much at all since his freshman year at Clemson. But he has all the arm talent in the world and can make some of the toughest throws imaginable.

I still think the Jags make the playoffs though, and you’d hope finally having a young offensive-minded HC in Coen will help maximize Lawrence’s potential with time.

For as badly as Tampa Bay got outplayed in the first half, they were pretty fortunate that Detroit never fully took advantage and kept it within two scores at the half. Now the Bucs have something going and we’ve got a ball game.

Gibbs, St. Brown and Goff doing all the work on offense tonight. Still not over though. Gonna have to spread it out a bit. Can’t get too predictable with the game still in reach.
