Can they run in these temps?
Would love to hear from a Toyota engine tuner with regard to what they have to do....must be different I would think. Fascinating stuff.I’m betting they push it up to Sunday afternoon.
I’ve never seen a prolonged period of cold like this in the time I’ve lived in North Carolina.

Not sounding good.
If you haven't read the book, "The Beast", I highly recommend it. Roger Penske is a madman. Love him!I have no doubt they can have they track ready if they want to, its just a matter of how much they want it.
Back in 94 when penske was developing the beast motor they melted snow on the old Nazareth speedway just so he could "secretly" develop that motor.

Hamlin in the lead with Jones's and Carl's old sponsor on the car. Definitely a sno-spec motor under the hood.
That doesn't mean much on a tiny track.Colder weather does mean more hp
It's a great book, but underlines that without a spending cap there is no end to the amount of money teams will spend to win.If you haven't read the book, "The Beast", I highly recommend it. Roger Penske is a madman. Love him!

I seem to recall a rescheduled New Hampshire race back in the early 2000's that was run in November with cold temps, maybe in the 20s.Coldest race on record.

The SNOWVALJust me but I would think rain, sleet or snow would be more of a problem than cold temperatures.

We ran Greenville SC ( K&N Series) after it snowed all day then cleared up. It was in the 20's and absolutely the worst race I ever spotted. So my point is they will stick to the schedule if possible. Those boys better bundle up and have the heated Jackets Charged up.I’m betting they push it up to Sunday afternoon.

Grip will be almost non existent. BGS is bad enough on a hot day, this will be interesting to say the leastRudy Fogle says that the tune will be much different to get heat in the motor.....brakes could be prone to cracking with the heat and then drastic cooling.....biggest problem will be to get the tires to stick--lowest temp would be 40.....let 'em rip tater chip......should be fun and interesting.
