Atlanta Cup

We're seeing what a great crew chief can do. Hamlin's the easy favorite to win the championship -- but he's also very capable of a total meltdown.

Truex needs to work on his restarts. He just couldn't get going all night.

4 wins...gotta give the guy credit...

A trained chimpanzee could win in that 11 car. I sincerely mean that. 12.1-12.5 second pit stops every time he pits, and he's shown this season he's got the best crew chief, car and engine. I'm far from a Kyle Busch fan but he'd have 10 wins in that car.

He let Denny run him high in to 3 instead of putting it to him. Kind of a shame when his fans are more passionate then him.
I agree. You gotta be more aggressive than that when it's a matter or whether you will even make the chase or not.

I feel for truex!! That sucks but that's rassin!

Gordon says that if he had it to do over again he would bump Denny and send him up the track. He sounded seriously disappointed by his own lack of aggression.

Will Denny win 3 in a row? hmmmm...

And despite what some would say, I found this race to be quite entertaining.

You forgot to mention the golden horseshoe! It is amazing how some people's luck is so good and others is so bad. A win by martin truex would have been nice. Next year GWC should be 5 laps......

Having it be 5 laps would be nice, but if that was the case...I'd say that they go back to only giving them one shot. 5 laps would obviously increase the chances of a possible crash.

I like both of these ideas. Especially at Destructor Plate Tracks...

I am so pissed at Gordon right now. After his interview I am so pissed. Yeah Gordon do you think you should have laid the bumper to him. what a puss

If you recorded the race go back and look at the last 4 restarts. everyone who started second on the high line spun their tires.

Yeah, I realized that after I said it. Just seemed like that high side could never get going on the restart.

Now that I'm cooling down...I will say that it was a good win for Hamlin. He had one of the dominate cars all race, his crew got him out first and Hamlin finished the job on that GWC. He deserved that win just as much as Truex did. At least it wasn't a debris caution that decided the fate of Truex. NASCAR had no control over what happened. It was just tough luck for Truex.

Actually, trained chimanzees have been noted to be lacking in "cause/effect" understanding. While they are our closest relatives (DNA-wise) and they have been shown to use rocks as tools...in truth..raccoons are far better tool users than chimpanzees. Chimpazees are tree dwelling animals - well built and strong - but not capable of fending off the major preditors they have to face one-on-one. They are tribal in their instincts and competition for the top leader (and breeder) is often very violent...and more often than not results in the death of the lesser male. They are "biters" and tend to try and bite off their opponents extremities...this is why a dominant chimpanzee often is missing a few fingers.

Where y'at in the points?

Gonna be sitting outside the chase just like your Ford, at the point what does it really matter.

We can keep this up all night, but the bottom line is, on this night, your Ford was behind the wall, my Chevy was fighting for the win....not much else to the conversation...

Glad to see Gordon fans finally admit they approve of dirty racing, and I do like the disappointment (evil laughing)

But it ain't over Mr Clean is good at Richmond, who knows he can still win his way in, or catch Kyle on points.

My hope for Richmond with 5 laps to go about to restart with these 4 in any order rurning 1-4: Gordon, Kyle, Edwards, and Newman. Think we will see some bumpers used then?

I don't see a bump and run on the final lap as "dirty racing" I mean anyone who has won a good amount of races has had to use the old "chrome horn" at one time or another. There is a different in the bump and run in the final laps going for the win, and flat out wrecking someone for 5th....

He showed how bad he wanted it.

I agree with you to an extent...I think he THOUGHT what he was doing was going to work, however, he SHOULD have been more aggressive and used the bumper. Too many drivers, as they get older, lose that "edge" and just want to keep everyone happy. I do not want that to be Gordon, I want the Gordon that sent Rusty Wallace spinning two times at Bristol. I want the Gordon who paid Kenseth back at Chicago for the junk he pulled at Bristol. I do not want a watered down version.

A win for Edwards isn't really going to mean anything. He is pretty much done.

Yeah he would have to win and Busch and Gordon both would have to have horrible nights. He is behind both of them in the points standings at this point.

Wow, that was an exciting finish! Shame Jeff couldn't pull it off. Guess he thought he could get the run-off by running on the outside like he did for several passes earlier in the race. Still not in the 2nd WC position with tonight's finish.

Though I'm sure none of y'all care, I wasn't online tonight 'cause I went somewhere else to watch the race.

Two things....Jeff got the run off the corner because of his entry. Hamlin took that entry away from him. At that moment the run off the corner wasn't gonna happen. Jeff could've A.) Put the bumper to him B.)Lift off the throttle and give the 11 the win. He chose B.

Second thing, we're a very caring bunch. Where did you watch the race?

I care :)

Yeah, Jeff should have used the bumper. :( Easy to say that in hindsight...

Watched the race at Chili's. First time going to a restaurant by myself.

Lets not forget that the 11 was very fast. Also, getting to someones bumper and "moving" them can potentially end in disaster.

yep, and it STILL went farther than your Ford....

I was screaming at my TV coming off turn 2 yelling HIT HIM! I guess Gordon heard me but didnt do it.....

Jeff knew Denny had the fastest car. What surprised me was letting Denny block his run on that restart coming to turn 1. Jeff got on his bumper but never turned down to send Denny up the track.

Um...Ford is ahead in the points my 8. We'll see if Biffle can hang onto it.
