Richmond RACE thread

I really don't understand all the Chase bashing.

Nobody rips on the NFL/NBA/NHL/MLB playoffs. It's literally the exact same idea. 16 teams in the NBA/NHL playoffs that and a few that don't last four games.

Those that hate the Chase would love how European sports do it. One team gets ahead by four games and costs to a title because there are no playoffs.

I just hate this year's format. I liked the Chase from 2004-2013.

A lot of old school fans/purists prefer to leave the playoffs out of racing, because racing isn't a stick and ball sport. I can understand that mentality.

That's going to kill the ratings!! ;)

I'm sure I won't be the only one who refuses to watch next weekend.

But if the ratings aren't down like they have been before the Tony incident, I will still fell better about myself for boycotting the opening of this POS system.

It's interesting. The playoff systems of stick and ball sports do produce winners that did not do well in the regular season (much like NASCAR).

See: 1997 Florida Marlins and 2010 New York Giants

Of course, the inherent problem with a NASCAR playoff is that a non-playoff team can ruin the chances of a playoff team. In the NFL, the Patriots don't really have to worry about the Browns showing up and causing them to be eliminated.

So why not run the Chase races with just Chase cars. Get rid of everyone else. What would be so wrong with that?

Because 43 car races tend to be a little more exciting than 16 car races.

Not if you run at Bowman Gray and Eldora ;)

I know it's not feasible. A true champion is one who has the best season. No doubt. But that hasn't been how this country has done it for over 30 years. In some sports, they never have.

Anyone know how the pit scoreboard they show gets info on if the cars took 0, 2 or 4 tires?

I gave up on the chase months ago, going race by race. Hell, I don't even know who's in the chase thing anymore, nor do I care

As much as I'd like to see Smoke take a win, I'd much rather just have him do well. He doesn't need any extra pressure right now. Just waking up and looking in the mirror each morning is probably enough for one man.
