I never knew about this (it was right when I started watching NASCAR), but now I gotta try to see it.

If it was the 18 or the 48, I would have given it a 2. Can't lie..

Id rather sit and watch Truex lead all afternoon and win than someone else with 49 some-odd wins and a habit of owning the field. I'm not saying it's right but it is what it is.

Easily the worst race of the season. Boring and typical 1.5 track inability for anyone to pass. dumb stuff. What a stupid race. And it wasn't just cause one car dominated. Monaco and Indy today were 1000000000x more entertaining.

What kind of number is that
 
10 because I was there, it didn't rain, and I had infield hospitality passes which meant unlimited beer and food for free. But the race was pretty dull for the most part, no bumping at all and one guy drove away from everyone. Clearly that track needs the late evening sunshine and heat to make it a little more slippery and interesting. Perfect conditions let them simply hit their groove all day and cruise
 
People don't want it scripted. When there is obviously no script, they don't want that either.

The aero package produced a different result this time. If downforce is further reduced across the board as per the specs for Kentucky and Michigan, we will see more races like this one. Dominant cars will be the ones with the best chassis dynamics. Mechanical grip is harder to find.

My rating: 8.0. Not boring to me because the outcome was in doubt until the end. Although the 78 had a perfect race, the margin of victory was a second or two. There was no guarantee of victory until the checkered flag waved. There could have been a late restart, or the 4 or 48 might have outrun the 78 on the last stint. Or the 2 might have won as the leaders ran out of gas.

In addition, the aero rules/tires were working as intended, and this made the track very racy. It has been a long time since any race at Charlotte was not dominated by aero push and track position, but this one wasn't. There was plenty of passing, comers and goers, etc, just not for first place because the 78 was perfect on this night. In a contest of merit based on driving skill and set-up excellence, this will happen at times. It is way, way more interesting to me than aero dominated pack racing, such as Daytona or the Indy 500 with the current cars used there.

Glad to hear it for the people who were there. On the tube, it came across as a parade. I liked seeing Marty win, and I don't mind an occasional domination. As entertainment, it didn't equal the X race and really suffered in comparison to the I500.

10... my favorite 600. I was holding my breath the whole race waiting for it to be snatched away from the 78.

I really liked the long green flag runs and some of the racing and I don't mind when one team spanks the field. However I thought the coverage was awful and the race could easily be shortened to 400 miles.

It was a blowout, but not an aero blowout. I believe if somebody had the car to catch the 78 they would've been able to make the pass. It just all came together for one team on one night. Boring at times? Yes, but you have to respect the dominance.
I have never been a fan of the manufactured photo finishes. If you think that everybody should be even every race, go check out your local short track and tell me what you see.
 
The race itself was about a 4. Typical cookie cutter snoozer. Not just because one car led the entire night either.

I'll give it a 9 though cause Martin Truex Jr. finally got that long overdue win. I'd love to see him win the championship. Barney, Cole and the gang have really built that team into a force and that TRD support has put them over the top.

Congrats to Martin, Sherry and the entire 78 bunch. Couldn't be more thrilled. Since the 88 guys seem to be off their game this year, Truex may be my dog in the fight for the foreseeable future.
 
I've been thinking about this and I'll give it a 6.


It wasn't a total yawner I watched to see where Kurt was. I watched to see if Martin was going to hang on. The commercials were awful. I usually don't complain about commercials but dang, every time you turned around they played one. Sucked.

That's about it from here. I know you all were hanging with bated breath to see my answer.
 
First time going to a NASCAR race, experience: 10000000. From speed street to the hall of fame, from the team shops to the tailgate. I can safely say most non fans (especially up here in the north) have no idea how big of a deal NASCAR is. I sure didn't.

Race itself: 6. Kinda boring that Truex was able to go out and spank everyone but there was a lot of battles just behind him and jimmy that the camera probably didn't show. It was a lot of fun watching Brad in a dogfight for pretty much the entire race. We still all thoroughly enjoyed it and can't believe it went so fast.

Now we didn't plan on it, but rest assured this won't be our only race we go to this year. October 8 can't come soon enough.
 
yeah, I hate to bring the commercial thing up again, but that can't be good for occasional viewers that NASCAR could attract when getting an opportunity to actually see a race. Maybe this number of kind of fans isn't as big as I think it is, but when you're turning hardcore fans off doing it, that's pretty bad.

Glad you had a good time, and that the racing behind the leaders was better than what made it to the tube.
