IMSA 2024

#4 Vette with Milner lead Pro, Gunn in #23 Aston threatening. Ellis #57 Mercedes in GTD, #12 Thompson Lexus was close but blew chicane.

Wow! Really hate that the 4 Corvette had to stop for a splash on the final lap, but Heart of Racing haven’t been to victory lane in a while. Good win for them.

Penske Porsche return to their winning ways, Nasr really fired off strong on the final restart. Seems like the Acura wasn’t set up for that run.

Good argybargy between Phillip Ellis and Parker Thompson for the GTD win.

Winward has been the story of the season in GTD. They have won like three times already this year!

They’ve been killing it just like PMR did last year. I’d love to see them step up to Pro next year, that class could use a Merc AMG again.

Daytona, Laguna Seca (sprint race), Watkins Glen, Indy, and Petit Le Mans will all have NBC network coverage next season.

Watkins Glen had to be moved up by a week for TV, so it clears up a conflict with the Spa 24H but is now up against the Nürburgring 24H. In three consecutive June weekends next year we’ll have -

Le Mans 24H
Nurburgring 24H/6H of The Glen
Spa 24H

Lunacy.

Have you ever seen sportscars so healthy? There is no telling where this is going to peak out but it doesn't look like any time soon.

Interesting, MSR will house both cars but HRC US will race engineer one of them on race weekends, and MSR the other car.

Le Mans needs to be moved up to TNT. Hidden away on MotorTrend sucks. I had to watch on Max instead.
I had the same thought when they renewed the contract. TNT probably won’t have anything else that weekend of note besides a Stanley Cup game. The commercial-free coverage on Max is great, but I didn’t like it was limited to the Eurosport feed. They had a number of other options when it was on MT+ in past years. I preferred the main international broadcast.

The last two years the MT telecasts have been most excellent. It helps the races were so good, but the broadcast crew was fun and entertaining.

Max and X will go down as the worst rebrands of the century, so far.
Bit of a shame because I actually find the Max content to be good. I hadn’t thought of resubscribing to the new service after The Last of Us and Barry ended and HBO Max died, but the library is great.

Meanwhile X is just entirely dysfunctional.

One less option for Chip. I would be a real shame if we lost Chip.
There’s some smoke that Hyundai/Genesis may be coming in 2026, that may be his next best opportunity at this point.

So would that be available on my cable, or do you have to stream it? I don't know how this new age stuff works.
Streaming: https://www.max.com/

The sports add-on that houses the WEC races is included in the base sub for now.

Final verdict is imminent. Article notes that CGR is the favorite to land the factory contract for IMSA “at a minimum”, so very possibly the operating team in both championships.

Gonna have to record this one; busy racing day tomorrow. Always great to watch cars rip around Mosport though and LMP2 should be fun as the headliner class with Deletraz, Van der Zande, Albuquerque, and Derani all hopping down with GTP off this week.

Seems as though IMSA will be announcing a new circuit for the MX-5 Cup: Martinsville. Yes. Martinsville. That Martinsville.
