Legacy to Toyota

...and SHR went to Ford because of that fair business and lack of back stabbing.
SHR went to Ford because Ford threw a pile of money at them, and promised them things Chevy couldn't or wouldn't. From what I understand, if there was anybody growing tired of the HMS-SHR relationship, it was HMS employees, not SHR, and perhaps not even Rick. Barking up the wrong tree on this one. This move was much like the Legacy move to Toyota. A chance to move up the pecking order with a different manufacturer and gain a little autonomy. Curious to see if it works out better for Legacy than it did for SHR. Other than the one shining season where Harvick ultimately laid an egg in playoffs, the Ford experience was pretty much a dud.

I disagree. In their second season with Ford, SHR was the winningest team in the Cup series. The only thing SHR didn't accomplish with Ford was a championship. Switching was a wise decision for them.

Like I said, it was basically ALL Harvick/Childers, and it lasted for ONE season. The other SHR cars and the other seasons were all pretty forgettable. They were much more consistent and good when they had Chevy/HMS backing.

I think the struggles had more to do with driver line-ups. Clint Bowyer was a career journeyman who only managed a couple wins with SHR. Aric Almirola was there just to collect checks.

Losing Kurt Busch was a huge blow to SHR in terms of performance. That car was never the same after he left.

To me it's shocking how much these guys have struggled after switching to Toyota.

Is it hard making it over there without having a JGR alliance? 23Xl has it and doesn't seem to be struggling.

Joe Gibbs Racing might as well be the NASCAR branch of TRD. Toyota/JGR got beat at their own game by Furniture Row... They won't let that happen again.

TRD and JGR have 23XI right where they want them. Competing for wins but not championships. If JGR ever starts to struggle Denny/23XI have that relationship ready to go and ready to jump into becoming a champion caliber team.
