College Football 2024

Florida might need to go back to a defense that has them taking off one of the opponents shoes during a tackle and throwing it about 50 yards away from the line of scrimmage

Bulldogs looked pretty shaky in the first half today, Kirby surely lit them up in the locker room as when they came back out for the second half, they looked like the team I know. So happy College Football is back baby.

I'm a hardcore Florida fan, and was on board with Napier, but enough is enough. He might last another year, but the writing is on the wall. What a disaster.

I'm drinking heavily tonight after the shellacking we just got

One of my biggest pet peeves in football is 3rd/4th and short and you put the QB in shot gun. ND just did it twice. It worked both times but I hate it.

Freeman just said F it, we’re going.

JK they missed the second one by a literal inch.

Just came three seconds short of an FCS over FBS win. Central Arkansas almost had Arkansas State.

Abilene Christian looks like they have a chance to pull it off over Texas Tech though.

Regardless of my Gators struggling, I absolutely love this time of year...

Ole Miss has already scored 76 with almost a quarter to go
This might be the best Ole Miss team ever. Great Peach Bowl-winning squad last year followed up by the best incoming transfer class in the country, and they have a very favorable schedule draw by SEC standards. Could definitely see them making a deep playoff run this year.

Biggest WTF of the week was Oregon being in a 3-point game with Idaho late in the 4th quarter before putting it away with a late score. Idaho is a top 10 FCS team but Oregon was favored by 49.5

I like Dabo Swinney as an individual, and he obviously has been a great for Clemson when considering the body of work, with two national championships. But as some here have already mentioned (thread from the previous season), he is going to have to adapt and embrace the transfer portal.

After the Georgia game, I think there is almost no chance of winning the national championship this year. But in my opinion, they still could restore their status as one of the elite programs in the upcoming seasons.

But it will only get worse for him if he doesn't adapt, and it will probably not end very well. I don't think the support would remain with just being a yearly top 25 team or program. I would hate to see that happen.

Note or personal thoughts: I grew up rooting for the almost always struggling USC Gamecocks, the Dawgs, and for whoever was playing against Clemson. But Clemson was good to my son with his special needs. Dabo and the team sent him a team jersey that all of the players signed with a Sharpie. Dabo even made a personal call to my son to encourage him.
The Clemson cheerleaders came to his 19th birthday party. They gave him so much attention and all of them took selfies with Brandon, and you can only imagine how much that meant to a young man who was immobile with a terminal illness.
So my days of rooting against Clemson are a thing of the past. I hope Dabo figures it out and successfully adapts.

Dabo seems fiercely loyal to his guys but requires that same loyalty to himself, and much prefers to develop guys from the ground up. The portal goes against a lot of that, but if you aren’t using it at least a bit you’re just hamstringing your program for no reason. At the very least it needs to be used to patch holes on your roster and add depth where needed.

Awesome game tonight between LSU and USC, both teams looked good on either side of the ball. I think those DC hires each made are going to pay dividends this year.

Miller Moss is the real deal. That USC team is going to be a problem with the improved D. I'm not feeling great about them visiting the Big House in a few weeks. This season is going to be a gauntlet.

Similar to Jay Wright at Villanova except it’s far easier to develop a couple basketball players compared to an entire football team to compete.

Florida/Florida State on rivalry week for a spot in the Birmingham Bowl is gonna be a hell of a game.

I know I said I wouldn't care after Michigan won the National Championship and here I am right back to caring a whole lot. I feel like this is the best defense Michigan has had in my life and they're going to need to be that today.
