College Football 2024

So I guess we just decided to flip the script from the Georgia/Bama game last month. Crazy sequence of events.

It was such a bad call I’m almost okay with the UT fans throwing crap on the field. That’s not an endorsement, but I get the fervor when it’s so egregious at such a pivotal point in the game.

Really curious to hear the logic behind the reversal of the call. I wonder if Commissioner Sankey got on the phone…

I just hope it doesn’t start being a problem in the future when fans don’t like a call, they throw **** and hope to get things overturned. Like, it definitely was a bad call so I’m not gonna dispute that at all.

I'm right there with you. That call was so outrageously bad.
 
First time the SEC will go into November without an unbeaten team since 2007 - hardly the only parallel thus far to that infamous season. Lots of parity this year and no clear standout teams at the top.

Gonna be a lot of crazy tiebreakers for the two SEC title game berths with only eight league games. There’s gonna be a whole jumble of 6-2/7-1.

Never thought I’d say this, but I am actually starting to like the conference realignment expanded playoffs because of the number of big time matchups it has really opened up the scheduling cross country to where teams aren’t avoiding teams since it is no longer a quest for perfection it's keeping more teams in the picture for longer over the regular season and you can now afford to take on losses but not too many, and it gives a shot to the national title to weaker conference teams like Boise State with Heisman candidate RB Jeanty to have their day in the sun.

Most of the top of the ACC don’t actually play each other this year so Pitt @ SMU next weekend is probably a top 2 leverage game in conference this year, with Clemson @ Pitt a couple of weeks later. None of Clemson/Miami/SMU play each other until a potential ACC CG.

Very big G5 game tonight with Boise @ UNLV kicking off at 10:30.

I would’ve preferred a gradual bump to 8 first, but 12 doesn’t seem so bad so far. I do worry about them wanting to go to 14 so quickly in 2026, because then 16 won’t be so far afterwards, and so on. Playoff creep is almost inevitable and I just hope they don’t get too carried away.
 
ESPN is really hiding Toledo/Bowling Green rivalry game on ESPN+.

I'm done with streaming. This is a money grab and these networks are just disrespecting us all now.
 
I wanted Navy to beat Notre Dame today. But it was the best for Notre Dame to win.

They kilked JFK in 1963 to keep Roger Staubach off the cover of Time magazine after that loss, who knows what they would have done if Navy would have had won today's game.
 
Texas A&M would be wise to bench #5 (whatever his name is) at least for a possession or two.
