The Announcers Thread

So we've got:

Fox/FS1 - Mike Joy, Kevin Harvick, Clint Bowyer

TNT/Prime - Adam Alexander, Dale Jr, Steve Letarte

NBC/USA - Leigh Diffey, Steve Letarte ... nothing else confirmed.

Allen Bestwick is going to IndyCar on Fox most likely. CW is unknown. FS1 booth for ARCA and Trucks also unknown. I imagine Fox stays the course with Jamie Little for Trucks and ARCA though.

Personally, I hope Eric Brennan (CARS Tour on Flo, has done some ARCA races on FS1/FS2) gets called up.

Frankly, I wish they would go to USA across the board. Then I'd know where to find the race every week without having to check. I don't get why they don't stream everything on Peacock. But then I don't get why NBC has a separate sports stream, other than money, of course.

You referring to that in addition to an OTA/cable broadcast, or exclusively on peacock?

It’s becoming a joke, what’s on what, various streams, etc. etc. Being a Comcast/Xfinity cable subscriber, I was treated to “free” peacock for a bit, now they want to charge me ( a customer paying $$ to NBC via Comcast ), just like a non-NBC/Comcast one.

In addition to Peacock.

NASCAR is the only sports property on NBC Sports that you have to have cable to watch. You should be able to watch every NBC Sports broadcast on Peacock, in addition to NBC or USA.
 
Worth noting:

NASCAR has also recently opened its new digital content facility in Concord, North Carolina, which wll also produce 10 Cup Series race broadcasts next season for Amazon and Turner Sports plus the entire Xfinity Series season on The CW, while also having the capacity to host a FAST channel like the one described above.

Not what it means.

It means USA, MSNBC, CNBC, SYFY, Olygen and E! are being broken off under a separate company not owned/operated by Comcast. More than likely, these networks end up sold. The conservative media apparatus (Sinclair, especially), which is massive and profitable, will set their sights on it just to get their hands on MSNBC because shutting MSNBC down or converting it into Diet FNC is a huge goal right now.

For what it's worth, NBC is holding on to one of these cable networks: Bravo.

The contract, from my understanding, states that four races have to be on NBC and 10 have to be on cable, though I'm sure NASCAR isn't going to be upset if the races move from USA to NBC because that expands the audience.

The media landscape is changing quickly and dramatically. This move by Comcast happened very fast, and they were probably in an emergency situation with MSNBC losing 60 percent of its audience overnight. And that audience is NOT coming back and Comcast knows it. MSNBC's core audience (liberal Democrats) probably have (and should have) much less trust in the news media than Republicans at this point.

Yeah, I've moved from Twitter to Blue Sky for news, I ditched MSNBC awhile back except for Lawrence O'Donnel. I still have to wade thru the B.S. on Twitter to find most of the Nascar/racing posts though. Blue Sky has been adding over a million subs a day, it's getting there.

I only watch when there's breaking news and I go to YouTube TV Multiview for that.

Checks out anecdotally. My current only news source is the Financial Times. If it requires me using Tor to get trustworthy reporting from outside the US, I will do precisely that.
 
MSNBC isn't losing eyeballs because of the decline in cable. It's their political stances (another topic for another section of the board).

My current view of TV watching is it needs to be in 4K or 1080p and/or needs to be available to watch via streaming if I happen to be away from home. I subscribe to NFL Sunday Ticket and the picture quality of those games is awesome. They're all in 1080p. I turn it over to a NASCAR race and feel like I'm watching a broadcast from 15 years ago. Same of college football and basketball watching.

Fox will show some of their races in 4K (upconverted 1080p). I'm hoping they'll do more by showing most races on FS1. Amazon and TNT have the capability of showing sports in 4K or 1080p HDR. Since NASCAR is actually producing these, I don't have faith the races will be in either format. For me, that's how NASCAR is backward with their current broadcasting deal. I have a 4K TV and I watch to see as much as I can in 4K. Sadly, sports is slow to catch up with NASCAR, ironically, being the slowest.

Non-answer answer. He said they're going to fulfill their obligations.

I think it's telling that NBC held on to Bravo though.

We've learned in the past few hours that MSNBC is no longer part of NBC and may even be rebranded. So that tells me USA may be out of the picture altogether.

I can't figure how Fox News keeps conservatives / Republicans when its talent swore under oath that they take a position on the air and disown when they're back stage.
 
Is the NBC announcer lineup truly set? After his stretch of races, ultimately I was not a fan of Diffey. He’s a pro no doubt, but just doesn’t appeal to me for NASCAR. The accent isn’t so much the problem, although it is a contributor. I just feel a better lead announcer option would have been ideal moving forward (like Alexander).

I believe the Alexander/Junior/Lefart lineup will be a good one. One yankee gerbil, one southern gerbil and a solid lead with a different timber and tone.
