Country music has become a parody of itself

Been listening to a couple of Lower Michigan boys lately. I got to see the Grizzlies and Myron at the local casino over the summer.

Saw Cody Johnson for the 3rd time in person last night at a sold out packed Wells Fargo Center. As always he was amazing. Already looking forward to seeing him again.

Anyone watching the CMA’s? They lost me when they mentioned Post Malone and Shaboozey were gonna perform. I’d tune in, but I doubt Collin Raye or Martina McBride will be making an appearance.

Brooks and Dunn performed. So did Cody Johnson. And Chris Stapleton. And Luke Combs. Kacey Musgraves too.

And Ashley Mcbryde had a beautiful tribute to Kris Kristofferson

Sad to say, but Martina's voice is gone. I have seen her at least five times in concert, and it is like watching a friend deteriorate in front of your eyes (and I would never want to snark one of the best voices I have ever heard).

Life can be sweet, but age is an undefeated thing. Try to enjoy the good times while you can.

Back around 2007 or so , I took my girls and some of their friends to see Martina.
She , hands down , had the best voice I have ever heard live. She hit a lengthy sustained note in Concrete
Angel towards the end of the song that tingled my whole body leaving my jaw hung open.
 
If you remember Don Rich you have been listening for a long time.

Who gives a crap about who wins these awards?
Beyoncé's "country song" is merely a generic pop song that just happens to contain the word "Texas" but there's plenty of new country music I enjoy.
When Post Malone announced a country album I initially didn't give it a lot of attention because I was expecting it to just be rap songs branded as country. Now I can't stop listening to it.
