Cable cutters, rejoice

Me, I'm up for the Three Rivers Waiter / Waitress Competition and the Microsoft Excel World Championship Finals (whatever the Hell that turns out to be).

Needs a "Who Secretly
Farted World Series" to be taken seriously.

If that's not held in elevators, there's something wrong with organized sports.
It can be done with sealed airtight glass elevators to show the cussing nauseated fainting innocent people (but it all needs to be classy, real people, no acting or theatrics).

Production team needs to focus on providing good audio to amplify the almost silent artwork, and all of the expressions of disgust among the innocent bystanders.

Jeff Burton could do the "slide job" play by play commentary.
Adding in some Japanese sports announcers would be great as well.

Needs some metrics and stats. Maybe chemical ANALysis of emissions to include number of different elements and compounds, estimated speed and air mass, audio volume, duration; you know, stuff people can get prop bets on.

Great stuff they could also do some ESPN 'Dirty for Thirty' documentaries. To profile the SuperFarters and personal sacrifices they have made to pursue the dream.

More and more FOX and NBC affiliates are signing on with DIRECTV's new sports package.

They're planning to add RSNs and ESPN+ access to this sometime in the spring or early summer. Still no CBS, but it's in the works too.

This is by far the best deal in streaming if you're a sports fan. Even when it goes to $70. If it has RSNs by then, they'd be offering what others would charge $110 for.

Plus I think AT&T Wireless customers get a discount on DIRECTV.

I don't know, $70 still seems expensive to me. I suppose if you're a fan of many sports, it does make sense. I just need a dang NASCAR package! Like, charge me $20 a month and give me access to every race.

It’s $50 for first three months.

$70 is more than I want to pay, but I will be fine with that when it it includes RSNs and ESPN+. That’s worth some $35 or more right there.

More giging of Nascar fans.

The way this is being framed is deceptive.

Max had previously announced that, at some point in 2025, B/R Sports would become an add-on package at around $10/month. So, Jeff Gluck ALREADY would've had to start paying an additional $10/month on top of the $99 he spent for the year.

WB Discovery actually backed off charging extra for B/R Sports, which I expected they would when TNT lost the NBA. They just aren't including it in their basic plan anymore.

It's still an upcharge for Jeff, but it's better than the $120 he would've had to spend. For those who already have the ad-free plan with Max, and just about everyone who had it prior to them launching the basic tier already have that, this saves $120/year.

BTW, B/R Sports also has live, uninterrupted WEC coverage.

I've chosen to watch Le Mans on there instead of Motor Trend the past two years.

Looking for a little help.

On CW yesterday, a basketball game ran over into the Xfinity pre-race and then race broadcast. The ticker at the bottom said Xfinity coverage was on 'Newsnation' and to go to 'Loginnn.com' for info. Loginnn asks for my zip code and then says I can watch on 'You Tube Wilmington 227'. No link, no instructions, just that string of text.

How should I have used that information to watch the Xfinity coverage? I tried Googling that string but all I got was references to the 1970's sitcom '227' that I had forgotten existed. I'm unfamiliar with YouTube beyond using it as a jukebox, and what help I could find on YouTube's site used terms I wasn't familiar with. I was able to stumble onto some Newsnation content but couldn't find a way to specify 'Wilmington' or '227'.

Since we know this is going to happen again, I'd like to learn what to do before it does. Thanks.

I went to newsnation like it told me to go to and like the fool I thought I would be for doing so, there was a guy talking the news.

I found an e-mail address on CW's FAQ for watching Xfinity races. I sent them basically my post from above. Let's see if I get a response.

"Thank you for your feedback, we'll pass it on to the appropriate department."

That'll be your response, and it'll be done without anyone even touching the keyboard. I feel like that's always the generic response I receive when submitting feedback to big companies.

I don't have much expectations but I lost nothing by trying.

"Dear CW Viewer,

Although the ACC College basketball went into overtime we are thrilled that we could delay the start of the Austin COTA NASCAR Xfinity race on The CW so you could see the entire thing!"

Fat lot of good that does me next time the race gets bumped. Probably an AI-generated response triggered by my use of the words Xfinity and basketball.

Be happy you don’t live in the UK, costs 170 pounds a year for a tv license just to watch anything on your tv or devices. Fine for not having one is 1000 pound fine.

From Wikipedia
Since 1 April 2024, the annual cost has been £169.50 for a colour licence and £57.00 for a black and white licence (with a 50% discount for the blind). Income from the licence is primarily used to fund the television, radio and online services of the BBC.
I donate a bit more than that annually to public television and radio. The obvious difference is the donations are a choice I made, not imposed on me.

I don't know if this has been covered here yet or not. Big changes coming for broadcast TV if the National Association of Broadcasters (station owners) get there way. If this goes through, it would make most current TVs and DVR's obsolete for what is now OTA tv for the major networks starting 2028. You would either need to buy a new TV which adheres to ATSC 3.0 standard or you would need a set top box for your current TV. Also, DVR's would have to adhere to DRM in order to record shows.

If enough public sentiment against happens, it may not go through. I don't know if it would be up to the FCC alone to make the decision anyway.

OTA channels should never be difficult to access. Here in Kansas and in many other states, they play a huge role in keeping people safe during severe weather. But I understand that to businesses these days, money is more important than safety, so…

Last time they did this, they ended up sending vouchers for people to buy tuners.

It’ll get passed and then delayed for 10 years.

The republicans tried to privatize the internet the last time they had a majority. The wanted tiers of access. This in it's own way kinda smells like that looking between the lines. Instead of having the networks offer both versions, lets force the consumer to foot the bill.

They make another with 4 of the circle things. I'm maybe 15 miles away from the towers tho so don't need more.
