2026 Silly Season

I think Daniel Suárez is out. Sounds like 4 cars are no longer allowed, Ross isn't going anywhere, SVG is too much of a marketing machine and they have too much invested in Connor to keep him over at JRM.

I think if they wanted him back he'd be signed already
Could be. Like Pockrass said they have Zilisch in the wings. SVG is doing worse than Suarez, but the gap from 28th to 33rd might be it for the Amigo over SVG and his threat to win on the twisties. Zilisch just got a couple more Cup races to drive added recently to his schedule.

What decent team has an opening for him? I seriously think if he's out at trackhouse he's in Xfinity next season
It's not looking good in terms of rides, but something will materialize. He's too good and in his prime.

A third Legacy car? Not likely. Rick Ware could be an option. I agree he'd be better off in Xfinity if those are his options though.

He’s already underwhelmed at JGR and SHR. He’s not going to be taking a step up from Trackhouse…he’s running out of places to go to at the Cup level.
He hasn't set the world on fire, but I feel like he has been very good at Trackhouse, way better than his stints at JGR and SHR.

A year or two in Xfinity top equipment isn't necessarily a bad thing though.

Sounds like Legacy are targeting Jesse Love if they end up expanding to three cars full-time.

He’d be a valuable addition to an Xfinity team though. He’d help sell a lot of sponsorship and compete for another title.

SVG is an irrelevant back marker most weeks and Zillich will be a rookie who will likely struggle for a couple of years (if guys like Byron and Gibbs are any indication).

Zillich might be a short term downgrade until he finds his footing but this will work long term if Marks is patient. Ross will have to carry Trackhouse for a while.

Unfortunate for Daniel, as the body of work shows hes a mid pack driver at best with an occasional win if things break extremely right for him. I think hes going to kill it in Xfinity. Zilisch has loads of upside and I can understand why this move is made, hopefully it will work out but I think patience are in order for this to see it through.

Suarez has a better record overall than SVG if you take SVG's threat to win on road courses away. Zilisch can win anywhere and will.

SVG is still technically a rookie. But he needs to show he's more than a one-trick pony.

Zillich will be an upgrade. Maybe not immediately, but soon.

When Reddit was proclaiming that he would be a championship threat from the get go, I disagreed. It turns out, I was right.

We’ve all seen this before. Right now, he’s a more level headed and worse version of Robby Gordon.

Jimmie was interviewed earlier in the week and mentioned Zilisch by name as someone he might like should LMC expand to a full third car in the near future. Seems some other Cup organizations were ready to pounce if Trackhouse didn’t find a home for Connor.

Daniel is a great character but a known quantity as far as the level of performance he can bring to a Cup team. SVG and Zilisch are both still very green in terms of oval experience, but have a lot of runway to grow into it. Zilisch in particular has been pretty hot on ovals recently.

SVG elevates that charter entry in the season-end points fund by way of winning road races. So long as he reliably wins one or two of those each year, he’s golden. It’d be great if he became a top 15 oval racer, but he doesn’t really need to. Maybe he can make a couple of R12 appearances out of it if he does.

Put Suarez in Connor's car at JRM next year and let him be Allgaier 2.0. It seems like it wouldn't be THAT HARD for Daniel to scrounge up Xfinity level funding, and it would probably be a good fit all around.

Only if NASCAR moves the Charlotte Roval to the first round.
Playoff points can make a significant difference at the cut line. He has 6 with three road courses in between now and the playoffs. Historically, that and/or simply bringing the car home trouble-free three races in a row is usually enough to advance past the first round.

Daniel thinks he is a Cup driver.

I heard that, and Jesse Love as well. Makes me wonder what WE are thinking for Heim. Hard to plan around 23XI with all of the court crap.....I am thinking that if Jimmie is willing to look elsewhere, WE might be willing to pony up more $ support to encourage him to stay within the family.

This should come as a shock to no one. He was on a one year contract, which showed little confidence to start with. By the time June came around and he wasn't signed it was clear he wasn't coming back.

Personally I think they threw him a bone and waited until the Mexico race was in the rear view to make it official.

He hasn't performed well this year, so I'm not shocked about the news. I'm not sure Zilisch is ready for Cup, so it'll be interesting to see who they put in that ride.
He finished 23rd at Charlotte and 11th at Atlanta. That is better than Suarez 34th and 36th.

But is keeping him in an Xfinity car going to prepare him? The cars drive wildly different and there's very few top level drivers in that series to learn from. SVG himself said the year in Xfinity did nothing to prepare him for cup because the cars are completely different.

That's a good point. I guess Zilisch is going to be a Cup driver next year. Huge get for Trackhouse.

Knew this was as coming the moment Pitbull pulled out of Trackhouse. I thought Zilisch could use another year in Xfinity, but he’s been on a heater lately and I’m sure Red Bull is clamoring to get him in a Cup car ASAP. With the 99 mired in 28th in points and Daniel likely wanting more than another 1 year deal, this makes sense for everyone.

Daniel Suarez is a good driver and a good dude. Unfortunately I think this is the end of the line of his competitive Cup career. He’s not getting a better ride than the 99 car.

Unless he wants to ride around in a RWR ****box, I wouldn’t remotely be surprised to him swap rides with Connor Zilisch. JRM Xfinity would be a better showcase of his talents than hanging on to the tail end of the Cup garage.
