So far any changes to the playoff and point systems were always announced at the January 'Media Day'. I don't expect to hear anything about the 2026 championship before that.

I would expect Nascar to hold an announcement about the championship format in reserve, in case of adverse news about the 23XI/FRM lawsuit. If Nascar wants to dilute media coverage about the lawsuit, trotting out a new and better championship format would be a useful way to do that.
