Coca Cola 600 Pre-Race Thread

I’m looking forward to this one a lot less as I process today’s news. Just absolutely numb

Not sure how much, if any racing will get in this weekend. I just saw a weather forecast saying rain is 90% chance today and tomorrow along with 50% Sunday.

Indy is also 50% chance on Sunday.

It is, but it was something to do until the 500 started.
Eh, it was like chips and salsa, or bread sticks. Nice enough while waiting on the double entrees but not having it wasn't going to affect my meal.

Besides, with F1 on Apple now, I'm not willing to pay for it even if it was still the opening act.

A soldier playing Taps on a trumpet and the 21-gun salute always get to me. There is something sacred about it. I want to believe it should be just for a soldier; they deserve our respect and gratitude. They paid a price that is far beyond anything I have ever sacrificed.

But in all honesty, hearing it this year before the race will be even more difficult.

Damn, I forgot about that.

Well that sucks.

It’ll be tough for sure, but it’s like they say with other similar situations, but Kyle was a racer and he was so passionate about the sport. He’d want nothing more than for all these drivers to go out there and give it there absolute all, just as he always did.
...and I think he would want us to enjoy the race too. Yes, it will be somber, but it will be a race, and it will be good. LFG/RIPRowdy.

The respect shown by the other teams is incredibly classy.
I'm a rough S.O.B. ,but that was tough for me to watch...

Probably wasn't much fun in the shop renumbering the car either.

I'm sorry, y'all, I'm not being callus but I cope with times like these by hiding behind procedures and analytics. How do they renumber a car on such short notice? Can they get a whole new wrap delivered on that brief a turn-around?

In shop printing now. Technology moves at an astonishing rate. Most teams have print capabilities.
Someone worked late hours , I'd like to think that it was a labor of love.

100% humidity and only 63F. That cold wet air isn't going to take much more water. It may be condensing as fast as they can evaporate it.

Incidentally, 200 miles ESE, it's 20 degrees warmer with 70% humidity. That gives us a heat index of 95, unpleasant but not unexpected on the southern NC coast.

Well, there are cars on pit road with hoods up and crew members milling about. There's a caption "Coverage will continue when track is dry", so apparently it ain't. Dryers still running around in formation.

It took me a few minutes to remember how to get into Prime video.

EDIT Drivers getting in cars!
