The 77 would be really sweet ... read something somewhere that the Toyota people are very fond of Matt, and I think he's professional enough to put any issues with JGR behind him. I'm just not sure the 77 can get the sponsorship they would need. I do know Truex/Kenseth would be a strong tandem...

Maybe it's not a talent issue, but more of a maturity issue? He's what, 19? Maybe they just don't think he's quite ready for the demands of being a cup driver?

I think Matt wants 5 more years ... but he also wants a good ride. He'd probably take the one year deal and then try to land another deal the next year when maybe more opportunities are available.

This sucks for Kasey Kahne fans, but it has seemed that he needed a change of scenery for quite some time. Good luck to Kasey going forward.

Great day for Matt .. he's really picked up his road racing game the past few years. Good points day as well. +28 on Bowyer, and only down 6 on McMurray and 11 on Elliott. He's going to slip ahead of those two in the next two weeks.

Matt Kenseth took a similar approach ... Metallica concert two weeks ago ... RAGBRAI bike ride through Iowa last week. They don't seem too worried about their futures.

Ty has already said he will not be coming to RCR in 2018. He's staying put with Germain.

I'd be more angry with coach Gibbs if he would have dumped Matt with years remaining on the deal. Coach actually found a way to let Matt finish up his current deal this season when he worked out a deal to loan out Jones. I don't think Matt feels unfairly treated .. just wasn't happy with...

I think Gibbs made the right call with Jones over Kenseth. It is what it is ... old driver vs. young up and comer. Matt's lack of a strong partnership with a sponsor really hurt him. If Matt had a connection like Denny has with Fed Ex he'd still be in that #20 car for years to come.

I think my man Matt will get in .. he might get a win soon, but if not I like his chance of passing up Chase and Jamie Mac.
