I enjoyed the Dale Jr. Download show a while back with the guest Gary Balough, since I had watched him race many times, mostly at Golden Gate Speedway (defunct) near Tampa. This was in the 70's at the yearly Governor Cup races. They had quite a field of short trackers there -- lots of drivers...

Just seems the money spent is not worth it in the actual race with the characteristics of today's cars. Of course it would help with single car qualifying. It's not just Daytona and Talladega either. I wonder if slapping the wall a bit actually improves handling (in side drafting?)

Then Daytona and several other track don't either.

Nascar Cup teams spend millions to get the best aerodynamic car, but seems in most races, a few cars that are beat up in accidents or tire failures come back and race with the front runners (that aren't damaged.) Really wonder if it's worth the money.

Seems there's a perception that cars will wreck to the outside of the track, so at a lot of short tracks you see track workers, photographers, and fans/crew hanging on or near the inside of the track. Sprint and Midgets seemingly are very unpredictable.

I'm sure Nascar measures all the pit crews arms so they get it right!¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It's their replacement for the phantom caution to make the race more exciting (to call it or not.)

And a lot of people don't use Facebook or other social media. Posting weather problems (rain outs) and re-scheduling on a web site is also important (especially for those that have to travel long distances to a race.)
