    The Announcers Thread

Am I the only one who would rather listen to fingernails screeching down a chalkboard rather than listen to Leigh Diffey call a race? I'm certainly no fan of Rick Allen, but Diffey is way more gerbil-ized than Allen.

NASCAR Pick 'Em 2024 - Michigan

Fair warning to all who have saved the "best drivers" for the stretch run... 25% of the remaining races are at drafting tracks!!! Chaos shall prevail!!! Daytona - Atlanta - Talladega... these are tracks that will destroy your "best drivers," while handing top-5 finishes to genuine weekly...

NASCAR Pick 'Em 2024 - Michigan

When "The Commissioner" posted the picks yesterday, I saw that I was "on an island" with Chris Buescher as nobody else picked him. I'm happy with a P6... after snagging a W last week with Dipsh*t Dillon... a sign that maybe my lousy racing luck has changed for the better. One-third of the season...

    Cup RACE thread --- Michigan

Keselowski too. I don't understand why guys that are not in a tight points battle would stay out. Buescher needs the stage points to make the playoffs, but Byron and Kez do not.

    Scott Bloomquist

Godspeed to "Black Sunshine," a true giant in late model dirt racing. One of the most colorful nicknames in all of sports, and one of the most appropriate, IMO.

    The Cucumber Returns

It's a better decision than I anticipated, but I still say the 3 team having the official race victory is unsatisfactory to me. Encumbered wins are a bad deal that left a stench a few years ago when Nascar was handing them out on a regular basis. Going back to that is a bad move, IMO. Race wins...

    Trackhouse Racing Team

I'm very glad to see Daniel Suarez get the contract renewal. He is a valuable asset to the Nascar industry, and his story is a heart-warming boot strap success story backed up by hard work and a willingness to take enormous risks to generate his opportunity. Really, he risked everything to make...

Singer Pitbull takes Ownership Role at Trackhouse Racing

I am saddened by the dismissive and cynical attitudes displayed... "Pitbull" is a founding partner/co-owner of Trackhouse, along with majority owner Justin Marks. From a dream and a concept, but no cars, no employees, no sponsors... to a winning cup team and recently expanded to a very...

    Cup RACE thread --- Indy

I love the Brickyard 400, it is always one of the most intriguing races of the year (to me). And here is my favorite photo of kissing the bricks. Little Scarlett Keselowski is like, "I'm glad Daddy won, but that kissing thing is stupid and dirty, and I'm not doing it."

    Silly Season 2025

B Kez. And Blaney was already mentioned. Davey Allison was speculated about, but such speculation doesn't count IMO.

    Stewart-Haas Racing

I'd like to see Penske bring Chase Briscoe to the 2 and Noah Gragson to the 21. It seems as if all the insiders assume Burton's run in the 21 will end this fall, but I also believe the 2 car is in dire need of an upgrade.

Should Nascar give Kyle Larson a waiver?

Greg sums up my opinion on the waiver very well... it was a force majeure absence due to weather, after jumping through all the hoops to race the 600. So grant the waiver. I support the rule that a playoff driver has to have run all the races, and I think waivers should be very limited. An...

    Larsons priority is indy today!

Maybe so. Personally, I'm conflicted about the waiver. I'm in favor of Larson sticking with the Indy 500. And in their defense, they embarked on this with the full intention of running Charlotte. It's not like a willing skipping of a Cup race... just the result of adverse weather. OTOH, waivers...

    Silly Season 2025

When *racing* reporters comment on business matters, I take it with a grain of salt, because most of them are pretty clueless and often misinterpret their information. Pockrass is one exception; he is careful and generally accurate. However, when Stewart-Haas Racing was formed, the New York...

    F1 2024 News/Misc.

I don't read Joe Saward's F1 blog very often - it's a bit tedious and sanctimonious for my taste - but occasionally he has some good insider perspective to offer. His current blog post was recommended to me so I gave it a read. It is titled... "Green Notebook From A Dirty Weekend." Pretty...

NASCAR Pick 'Em 2024 - Daytona

Last year was a disaster for Lew-the-Shoe Racing, some truly bad luck and not much effort on my part. Hoping for better results in 2024...

Johali's Rate the Cup Championship race

10 I prefer Homestead for the finale, but Phoenix always delivers a good battle for the championship. Congrats to Blaney and the 12 team... heck of a fine performance!

Kyle Busch Motorsports SOLD to Spire

Jordan Bianchi reports this morning that the self-named (how yucky is that) Rowdy Busch has sold his racing team to Spire, who seems to need a more spacious shop. As for KDB's motivation to sell, it seems that life as a team owner is a lot more difficult when the Toyota gravy train ceases to...

NASCAR Pick 'Em 2023 - Bristol

Ha ha, thanks. We also rented ATV's to explore the fire roads and trails in the mountains. I can attest that switching to 2wd is more fun than the recommended 4wd. The front tires are definitely less "planted" in 2wd, but you can break the rears loose and steer with the throttle.

NASCAR Pick 'Em 2023 - Bristol

Oops. Brain fart. You are correct, PJ, that I didn't get the message, but I do appreciate you sending the warning. I was white water rafting on the Snake River in Idaho... part of a week-long celebration of my brother's 80th birthday. Just today I saw the results of last week's Pick 'Em game. I...
