Bonehead of the Week: Talladega II

2025 will be remembered by Hendrick Motorsports as the "Year of the Unforced Error". Who needs competition when you keep inventing new ways to beat yourself?

    2026 Silly Season

According to Tommy Baldwin, all of the Kaulig truck seats are filled, although he refused to say who the other three drivers are.

Bonehead of the Week: Las Vegas II

Maybe it's time to structure pit road entry more like pit road exit, where you would have to go down to and stay in a deceleration lane before entering pit road. It would also offer an opportunity to close up the pit in end of the track. I have long been concerned about cars spinning onto pit...

Bonehead of the Week: Las Vegas II

I don't disagree with your take there, but I guess what I would have to ask is without the points reset, does the current playoff format make sense on ANY level?

Bonehead of the Week: Las Vegas II

I'm not disputing that the uncontrolled tire was a team issue and shouldn't impact the 9 car, but should it erase a 32 week body of work? Me thinks not.

Possible, but also possible that he just saw a whole season go down the drain in a heartbeat. Look at how dazed Ross seemed to be last week.

Bonehead of the Week: Las Vegas II

If you want an example of why I hate this playoff format, two of my favorites likely won't advance over something as simple as an uncontrolled tire and a wreck caused by something totally out of my driver's control. Racing has too many variables to determine a champion over such a small sample size.

Bonehead of the Week: Las Vegas II

Dishonorable mention to the 9 crew for not having a warm body in place to track down stray tires. I have never liked the concept of rolling tires to the pit wall anyway, but with the reduced over the wall crew, you don't have much choice. Back in the old days when I carried tires with 7 crewmen...

    WHO IS UNDESERVING?

I will stand my assertion that if you don't finish in the top 5 in the regular season, no way in hell do you deserve to have a shot at the title. Now just to be clear, the rules are the rules, and you can't fault any team for finding a way to make the rules work for them, but that doesn't make...

I wish somebody in the media would ask the question what is the purpose of fielding cars under the HMS banner instead of the JRM banner?

Have to go with Ross, but a honorable mentioned to all of the Toyota and Chevy drivers that let Logano off the hook and allowed him to advance. If you can't figure out how to help Ross stay ahead of Joey enough to advance without openly communicating what you are doing, then you might want to...

    WHO IS UNDESERVING?

To tell you the truth, NONE of the 8 really excite me for the season they have had, but SOMEBODY has to win it. Larson has been pretty good, but has been on a long OK but not great streak, Byron and Elliott scored a lot of points, but I'd rate both as disappointing. Blaney has been fast, but a...

Because Dale understood that if he couldn't win, he was going to make sure his cars did. Ultimately you can make the case it cost him his life.

    Bonehead of the Week: Kansas

I know some people were comparing this to the Ty deal from a week ago, BUT the circumstances are TOTALLY different this week. My only thought is that if I'm Denny, I'm going to make damn sure if I can't win, Bubba does. I think he needed to be more cognizant of the possibility of his car washing...

    Cup RACE thread --- Kansas

Chase was in the top 5 all day. Probably had nothing for Denny, but I think he could go heads up against the rest of the Toyotas. You had just better hope the chain gang doesn't find another tenth or two in the next few weeks. The gap is narrowing.

    Bonehead of the Week: Kansas

I also don't fault Denny in this instance as much as others, but you would like to think that he MIGHT have given Bubba a wider birth, so that if Denny couldn't win, Bubba would. As for Bell, Bubba doesn't really owe him much other than being a fellow Toyota driver. I can really see how all...

    2026 Silly Season

Let us not forget that Alex is two crew errors away from advancing to at least the final 8 last year, and at least the final 12 this year. Do we want to start a list of drivers that can't say that?

Bonehead of the Week: New Hampshire

Let's not forget Kez driving into the inside wall, but definitely Ty. When your last name is on the building, you have to think a little bigger picture than your own selfishness. Cup level talent, bush league mentality.

    2026 Silly Season

You will never get an argument from me that the Latford System weighted consistency too much and success too little. That being said, I will go to my grave believing that it could still form the framework for a points system VASTLY superior to anything we have had since.
