There won't be any new track records, but somebody will be on it.

Chevrolets look fast. A Honda (Dario on May 15) has only topped the practice times once in the seven days of practice. Are the Hondas holding something back, or will be the Bowtie boys start on the pole? Remember, the Chevrolets were fast all month last year, but when the checkered flag fell on race day, a Honda was in first place.

Schedule of events at the track for today are as follows (all times Eastern):

8-10am - Morning Practice (not televised)

11am-4pm - Qualifying Segment 1 (NBC Sports Net)

4:30pm-6pm - The Fast 9 (NBC Sports Net)

For those not familiar with the qualifying procedures at Indianapolis, the first 24 cars (of the traditional field of 33) will qualify today. Anybody who is slower than the 25th car will not qualify.

The "Fast 9" is an additional qualifying segment where the top 9 qualifiers will run to see who takes the pole and the other top 9 starting positions. After today, the field 1st through 24th is set.

Tomorrow is "Bump Day" where starting positions 25th through 33rd will be decided.

It's not likely but it would be cool to see Andretti Autosport get five of the top nine. I do think they have a chance at four though. I don't think I've seen Hinchcliffe towards the top of the charts in a few days.

Is qualifying moving to a different channel at 2:30? I was going through the TV listings and it looks like horse racing comes on then.

Yeah, what the heck. They're supposed to be showing it. Doesn't look like they're moving it to NBC or CNBC either. What the heck.

"Light" rain at Indianapolis now so qualifying delayed. :(

The Mayor will be in the top 9. So will Carlos. My 'dark horse' is Allmendinger, and I think Briscoe will do well, too.

This is so reminiscent of 'the good old days'. One year the place was packed, well over 100,000 fans. It had rained Friday night, and they spent 3 hrs drying the track down to the smallest gray spots. Then, after parades, anthems, and other meaningless b.s., moments before the first car was fired up, it rained HARD for about 5 mins., ruining the track. It was so weird to feel that many people have the same simultaneous reaction.

Looks like they need to borrow those super dryers from NASCAR...

That's disappointing. IndyCar loses Pole Day TV coverage to horses?

I hope he is. Hunter-Reay also sounds like he believes Honda will turn it up a notch today though.

Yep, Air Titan certainly could have come in handy today.

Yeah, I think the actual race is on the NBC network itself. That's strange.

They could throw the qualifying to CNBC at least. They are going to show F1 races on CNBC later in the year when there is commitments on both NBC and NBC Sports Network. All CNBC does is show crap infomercials on the weekend anyway.

Finally, they call the first 25 cars in the draw for inspection!

I just checked and you're spot-on. Nothing but infomercial crap on CNBC. There's no reason a large part of Pole Day at Indy shouldn't be televised.

Right now on NBCSN: Preakness Stakes pre-race
Right now on CNBC: Infomercial for "Firmer Looking Chin"
Right now on MSNBC: Live with Craig Melvin

Is this what NBC thinks of IndyCar? Disappointing.

How does Beatriz bump a faster Rahal? 225.117 opposed to Rahal at 225.139.
Don't matter now Briscoe just bumped both.

When you make another attempt, your other time is thrown out. Just like what happened to Townsend Bell, he was 20th, he is now not qualified.

The thing is Rahal finished his last run as did Beatriz and Rahal was faster. I understand previous time being thrown out but even the TV people were saying Rahal was on the bubble when Bell ran that bad run. It don't matter now.

Jourdain should of let Bia go out last. Jourdain has been no where near as fast as the rest of the field all week. Tommarow he may get whats coming to him though.
I agree. He wasn't going to get above even 220 so there was no point in going out.

Holy ****, are you kidding me? NBC Sports Network leaving the Fast Nine Shootout for Preakness post-race show?
