Tire Info.....

While teams in all three NASCAR series will run the same right-side tire code (D-4440) at Dover this week, those in Sprint Cup will run a different left-side code (D-4556) than those in Nationwide and Camping World Truck . . . in Sprint Cup, this is the same combination of left- and right-side tires that has been run at Dover since 2012 . . . these teams also ran this same tire set-up at Kentucky in 2013 . . . Goodyear held a confirmation test at Dover on May 6-7 . . . Sprint Cup teams/drivers that participated in that test were the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota with Kyle Busch, No. 78 Furniture Row Racing Chevrolet with Martin Truex Jr., and No. 99 Roush Fenway Ford with Carl Edwards . . . Nationwide drivers Ty Dillon and Elliott Sadler, as well as Camping World Truck drivers Ryan Blaney and Darrell Wallace Jr., also took part in the test . . . Dover is unique among NASCAR ovals one mile or less in length, in that inner liners are required in all four tire positions . . . air pressure in those inner liners should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.

I had a dream about this race. Gordon was leading but lost it to Harvick after a caution in the final laps. So, if anything like that happens, I'm gonna be freaked out.

2 of the best drivers so far this season & one of them is horrendous on restarts. 100% plausible.

You better be wrong

Hopefully we'll get to see another routing of the competition by the 48, and hopefully he wont get Juan Pablo'd on the restart this time.

I can't believe you guys don't like Fox. TNT is horrible IMO; I always dread the summer races because I'll have to listen to garbage commentary.

Better get ready for this:

lol

You cant hate on unadulterated audio tho.

^ That was hilarious at 2:13 YOU ARE A MAGICIAN! Turns out Weber is now a magician in some casino. Hahah

You know what I miss? Professional Race Commentary? I'm sorry but the clowns on Fox are hardly professional. I watched the Indianapolis 500 this year and I love how professional the sport announcers were. They weren't trying to be Folksy or down home country. They kept the focus on the race and giving you the play by play of interesting battles on the track. WHY CAN'T WE HAVE THIS IN NASCAR!?

I like Wally and Kyle, I wish we could just hear more from them.

Or like F1 commentary...

ESPN tries to make a story out of everything. They are sports journalists, not sports announcers. I think i remember liking NBC.

I have to agree with you here. In this context, maybe we would have had somebody actually dive into the new 0 Ride Height set ups and aero stuff. Unthinkable that this still really hasn't been explored in the broadcasts. This freakin' upset the balance in NASCAR. Six time is still struggling (but obviously gaining on it), an nobody NOBODY can match Harvick for speed. I know CC's won't give up their secrets, but maybe Larry Mac could let us in on the directions that they might be working. What do they change? How do they chart the changes so they don't get lost? Is there a point where a driver who hates tight simply must adjust his driving style or suck? I mean crap, there is such a good story in there, and nobody wants to tell it. BS.

Benny just had a way with people..he made you laugh but not in the zanny way DW does. He made you think.

...and he didn't make you feel like an idiot. He explained stuff to the newbies without dummying down the broadcast and alienating the well informed. I always felt like he was glad to have me watching. I had no idea when he passed how much I would miss him. I love DW, but when Benny got serious, you wanted to listen. When DW gets serious, I don't know if he is setting up the next joke or what.

I go by interruptions and distractions from the racing. Seems like every year there are more commercials, more station breaks promoting themselves and less racing news and info, and more crap that isn't about racing at all. If you watch other racing besides Nascar, it really becomes apparent. You can actually have the ebb and flow of the race as it goes on, it has a beginning, a middle, and a race to the finish. Today's Nascar announcers are too busy listening to the director call for a commercial break.

One thing I've noticed about the Indy 500 broadcast is that when they had that amazing 150 lap green flag run, commercials were kept to a minimum. When they go to yellow, they crammed in as many commercials as possible. This is the way it should be done!

Another Dover flashback.

Richard Childress Racing gasman Danny "Chocolate" Myers tries to calm down Dale Earnhardt following a crash in the 1993 SplitFire Spark Plug 500 NASCAR Cup race at Dover Downs International Speedway. Earnhardt and several other drivers were upset with Rusty Wallace who they say triggered the wreck. Wallace went on to win the race.

Neil Bonnett is joined by the Wood Brothers in victory lane after winning the 1981 CRC Chemicals 500.

Little known factoid. This was three years before the invention of color photography.

Darrell Waltrip takes the checkered flag to win the 1985 Bud 200 NASCAR Busch Grand National Series race at Dover Downs International Speedway. Waltrip was virtually untouchable in the event, leading 167 of the 200 laps.

They better get those damn Cup drivers out of the Natio.... err Busch Series or this Series will never last!

I remember that race. I recall Ricky Rudd calling Rusty a "stupid SOB" in the interview after Rusty took him out. :)
