2014 Las Vegas - Kobalt Tools 400 - Pre Race Thread

Looks like Edwards has the kinda car Harvick had last week.
Im just glad the Fords are off to a good start... 3 of the top 5 in practice.. hopefully they finish up front too. I know yesterday Joey ran 14 more laps than anyone with 113... then went out and was second fastest today. Good news for this guy :) Come on sunday can't get here soon enough. Hell the next 3 Sundays cant get here soon enough.

Fast Fords:D

:partytime

Looks like GoDaddy has already given up on full time sponsorship lol

Typical male chauvinist crap . When a male driver attracts a new sponsor , he is considered highly saught after by sponsors , when Danica attracts a new sponsor , she must be losing the old one . By the way , who's that in 10th ?

This qualifying format is insane. There is no reason to have cars running a 90mph variance on the racing surface. I guess it will take someone getting hurt before they realize how ridiculous this really is. I saw full speed cars passing cars running cool down laps within what appeared to be a couple of feet. One miscalculation is all it will take.

Carl Edwards said the same thing . Stupid , risking drivers lives like that . Exactly why they have to slow down instead of racing back to the caution . Stop with the senseless changes Nascar.:(

Male chauvinist? Pfff... I'd say the same thing about any overrated driver that took their big name sponsor off for some brand Ive never even heard of.

If they don't want to have to cool it down then they need to stop putting so much tape on it... win/lose... it is what it is for now.

Aspen Dental was on her car for two races last year and a lot of other top drivers for two races a year for a while now. They pay a premium and look for drivers that will give them the most exposure for their buck. We had a thread on this last year. . Go Daddy aint goin nowhere and neither is Danica. There is another thread for her.

Pretty cool looking paint scheme too. I like the blue and white. Mesh nicely together.

Points don't matter, now qualifying doesn't matter either.
If Brian keeps it up, NASCAR won't matter.
This is the first time I've seen this qualifying format in person. It is dangerous and it is a joke.
I knew this would be another gimmick that would be stupid, it will take some one plowing into the back of another car and either injuring some one or doing serious damage before Nascar changes this.

Sunday's pit selections.

Yep, definitely a work in progress. They need to let them come on to pit road and plug in to cool down. Get the cars off of the track that are just out there turning laps at those reduced speeds. I relayed this message via the NASCAR Fan Council page. They say they're listening. I'm willing to bet there are a lot of others that feel the same. Let's see if this format changes somewhat towards the safety side of things.

Other than that I like the new qualifying procedure. It's a helluva lot better than watching a single car take laps against the clock. Last night was my first change to really sit down and watch this procedure. Bubble times add a lot more drama to qualifying. The qualifying strategy is also much more fun to watch unfold. Overall I like this much better. Let's just make it safer.

I think this race will reveal if JGR has anything for the 1.5's, which they somewhat dominated last year.

Thanks but my guy doesn't need luck :D
OPh he just might.. he even said he thought he'd get at least into the top 12 in qualifying.... didn't even make the second round. Not saying he wont get a good finish but he's got his work cut out for him. None of em seem to have much speed... I think Denny qualified even worse no? Obviously its different than race day but so far the only fast Toyotas seem to be the MWR guys.

That's no good.. I know qualifying isn't everything but right now with new rules being worked on by the teams speed is speed. I know Kyle won from last before but that was when he had a car fast enough to win the pole and changed an engine.

I'm not worried.
