2016 Charlotte - Bank of America 500 - Pre Race Thread

'Cause during qualifying they jam all the ads in during the 10 minute break between rounds. The only sports content between rounds is a 90-second interview with the two guys who "missed it by ----that--- much!", Agent 86.

Because Cup garage wasn't open yesterday, teams getting 2 extra hours to prep cars today. #nascar

Better get that pillow you got at Furniture Row and get ready for a nap.

Confirmed by their teams: Keselowski, Logano, Larson, Harvick, ADillon will do both races since Xfinity is after Cup. #nascar

Fast in Thursday Practice should be good for tomorrow. CC's working OT tonight. Love it. Just awesome. Can't wait.

Terrible. The one weekend where I could watch the race having a Saturday night off. Work tomorrow, so I'll miss the whole damn thing.

Goddamnit NASCAR. Ruined my weekend

So if it stops raining at 5 or 6 today they aren't even going to make an effort to race even though it would be more than possible? Awesome, NASCAR.

Forecast isn't even too bad. What are the chances of them redacting this decision. Man, I was looking forward to it all week.

Impuslively canceling a chase race, and post poning it so that it has to compete with football is a bad decision, one that shouldn't have been made this early. Gonna be bad for ratings

Never mind the State of Emergency in NC.....but what the hell do I know? #FanboiProblems

I work 60 hours a week, and get to catch about 4 live races a season. When the rare opportunity of getting to see a race is eliminated, it's fustrating, regardless of context. I understand the situation, still find it a bit premature.
I never denied biases, but it's still fustrating dude.
Just expressing/rationalizing.

Bummer, but at least now I can go to the local race track tonight without missing the race. I mean, I will still miss it tomorrow cuz of work but nothing I can do about that.

Get a dvr, set the races, stay off your phone while you're at work and then watch when you get home.

I always do that. A nice way to unwind, but watching

I feel that man. It sucks, but the initial reaction has passed. Is what it is.

Atleast I won't have a distraction from my research paper tonight after work

As long as the race is over by the time I got to watch the Falcons game, then I'm good.

I don't know if televisions still do this, but I recall a friend of mine having a tv where he was able to display two seperate channels at the same time. (No sound though)

I think Nascar would have been criticized regardless of the decision they made and this postponement strikes me as having more to do with potential liability then anything else. Regardless if the schedule had remained intact and the race was started late or postponed people would be upset so Nascar can't win.

On a personal level it sucks as I would have recorded the race and watched an abbreviated version Sunday morning before the sports day started. Now it could be Monday before I get to it if then. It ain't the end of the world though.

Anyone heard a price of tix, thinking of driving over in the morning.

I assume the early postponement decision had fan's safety in mind. Good move, imo.

With the hurricane in consideration it was the right move, even if there was a chance everything will be fine.

That being said, still dont like it haha

The amount of people who would have been driving & stuck in hurricane conditions trying to get to the race is not worth it. Any criticism nascar gets for postponing the race is nothing compared to what woulda happened had a fan or fans lost their life battling the elements if today's ontrack activities were still ongoing.

Besides, the day fall races at CMS were better anyhows ;)

Um, no NASCAR did not ruin your weekend, that hurricane ruined your weekend.

NASCAR made a bad decision. The rain has ended in Concord (roughly the letter "R" in Charlotte), and no more rain is headed for the track.

Charlotte Radar 2.gif

Even if it takes two hours to dry the track, the race could still start by 9:30 eastern.

EDIT: Unfortunately, I could not find a radar site centered over Charlotte, but other radars show there is no rain west of the track.

Well, the race being held a Sunday noon is quite nice for me. When the race starts, it will be 6.00 pm here which is the ideal time for me to watch a NASCAR race.
But I don't think European teenagers are the group of viewers NASCAR wants to reach.
If I'd be on the other side of the Atlantic I'd hate to watch a race that was scheduled as a night race that early.

My family (dad's side) and I attended the summer Daytona race last year. Despite the 11:30-ish start time, I'm glad the race was held that night. Due to summer semester classes, I had to fly home the next day, and would not have been able to attend the race if it were held the next day.

I'm sure many people who were able to attend tonight will not be able to attend tomorrow.

I am looking forward to a warm, dry double header.

I know I know :D:rolleyes:, I'm just sort of playing with my own bias, they made the right call.
I can't disagree with that last statement there.

I miss the day races at Richmond too
