2016 IndyCar stuff

Looks like Kalkvoen and Carlin might link up after all.

It seems like Carlin has a plan and he says Sato and Chilton (2018, at least for Chilton) could be possible candidates for seats. The thing is, even if KV is a Chevy team could this lead to Cosworth bringing interest into IndyCar? Carlin and Cosworth in Europe are quite synonymous with one another. We know of Ford's history and Cosworth's history with one another, but I'm just speculating the situation. To see Ford-Cosworth meet down the middle to push the EcoBoost brand even more with IndyCar's t-charged V6 models, but its only a pipe dream for now because to see more manufacturing competition in IndyCar could help build more interest for sponsors and possibly more owners.

There is a lot of potential here with Carlin coming into IndyCar, this could lead to some huge attention.

Sato's manager says he has options with RLL, SPM, and AA. I suppose if HPD is going to stretch resources as Schmidt noted above it would be for Sato:

Dallara's DW 12 is confirmed for use through the 2020 season: http://www.racer.com/indycar/item/135797-indycar-dw12-extended-four-more-years

CART-/Champ Car-style aero is also set to return in the form of the 2018 universal aero kit. Sidepod intake scoops replacing the overhead air intake, full-width sidepods eliminating the "sponsor blocker" protruding up from the floor, smaller rear wheel guards (and to only be used on superspeedways): http://www.racer.com/indycar/item/135798-indycar-champ-car-style-bodywork-set-for-2018

IndyCar is going to sanction an MX-5 cup! Adding more racing into the weekend, giving more drivers an introduction into racing, and even more marketing possibilties for IndyCar and Mazda. Now, only if Mazda would enter as a manufacturer... I think they are too smart for that. This is awesome though @FLRacingFan here is our start to the top! @SpeedPagan you would love this, too! I know you were in some Mazda Cup racing in iRacing, would be cool if you could get paid to race them...

I need to go dip into my savings account...

SPM are trying to put together a part-time 3rd car for 2017 in hopes of running three cars full-time in 2018: http://www.motorsport.com/indycar/n...ans-for-part-time-third-indycar-entry-847768/

RLL are also trying to put together a second entry for Oriol Servia: http://www.racer.com/indycar/item/136296-indycar-rahal-working-on-second-car-for-servia

Love Servia, he is so underrated as a driver. His 2011 season with Newman-Haas was absolutely phenomenal with them being a relatively small team at the time.

**** yeah!

RLL signs Oriol Servia and Tom German as his engineer. German was with Penske and Andretti, he was Rossi's engineer last year with that awesome Indy 500 win. This was much needed for not only IndyCar, but Honda has another spirited and extremely experienced driver. Also, Graham has a teammate to build RLL up with and quite the fan favorite in Servia. He's a fantastic driver with plenty left in the tank, I honestly cannot wait to see him get acclimated again to IndyCar. Makes me quite happy with quality signings like this.

They still need a sponsor though before things really roll.

Full canopies are not being considered by IndyCar to better protect the drivers. A windscreen/deflector is being researched the most at the moment: http://www.motorsport.com/indycar/news/indycar-analyzing-****pit-deflectors-860031/
