Happy race day! Let's hope for a good race!

Hugely happy with the weekend so far. One more "session."

I think the lower downforce just might be the salvation of the Kentucky cup race. There is significant off-throttle time at both ends... well mainly in 3 and 4, but some in 1 and 2, I believe. Hope so!

Hope NBC cuts back on the commercials a bit tonite

I think Larson breaks through tonight.

Based on performance, he is certainly in the mix. Good call. Don't know that I would pick him (because I am biased as hell), but you are spot on. His performance over the practice sessions raised my eyebrow. Thing is, that I am not sure that he is great on tires....We will have to see what impact tires have tonight. Adds to the intrigue.....

I hope it's like every other race . Lots of jockeying for position early on . Fastest car works it's way to the front . Second fastest car finds a way to get to second place . Etc . Good clean racing , fast pit stops , track officials keep everyone safe . Maybe I'm hoping for too much ?

Dawg, I record them on DVR and start watching them either 2 hours after they start or on a Saturday night race, we may watch them Sunday morning with my coffee and zip through the commercials. I steer clear of all results until I watch it.

I hate commercials. 99.9% of all my TV watching is pre recorded.

I used to do the same thing, but I like partaking in the race thread, so cant really do that .

Perfect weather with the more exciting classes racing means I'll be heading to the local racetrack here shortly. I'll for sure have the race on DVR though. Hoping for a good race, but Kentucky is definitely not the most exciting track on the circuit.

Wouldn't it be great ! Maybe a Unicorn would walk by during the National Anthem and...well...you know.

Chances are we have a pretty good track to see who has the fastest car...and then NASCAR will get involved and it will just be a typical ????

But I hope you are right this once ted :booya:

Hmmm TLR..."Slicing the vehicle wrap"....it had it's beginnings in hotdog sellers who would slice (cut) the hotdog wrapper so that the hotdog would slowly cool at the same pace throughout the eating process. This prevented a "Hot Dog Eater" from taking one bite and feeling comfortable - only to take a second bite and burn the top of said hotdog eaters mouth.

It makes sense to me

NASCAR warns drivers/crew chiefs about illegal body modifications which includes "slicing the vehicle wrap." Sounds like a new trend?

What?
I am just guessing here, but slicing the wrap , depending on where , could allow air to get in between it and the body creating a little bit of downforce

Really...more downforce on a track where additional downforce could be key....heck, you are probably, exactly, right.

Now the tires will be another issue.

Good point. I wonder if instead of getting in between the wrap and car, maybe the cuts could force the air to move in a direction along side the car that gives them some bit of extra downforce.

Great to see an aerodynamicist or three earning their pay.

Guess NASCAR's next move is banning box cutters.

And you make a good as well, I can see that working too

Kurt Busch goes to rear for backup car -- he wrecked primary after lineup was set. Johnson keeps spot b/c wrecked primary b4 lineup set
