You have not addressed my questions, only sidestepped them while trotting out the g-word yet again. A gimmick? Nascar haters always say the same about any new idea in the stock car industry, but I have yet to see any rational analysis of what a gimmick is or isn't. A buzz word label does not answer what is good or bad about VHT, or progressive banking, or any banking at all. Why is one good and another bad?
I hear complaints that fans want more passing and more side-by-side racing. And yet Charlotte - notorious for many decades as a single groove track dominated by aerodynamics - is just "doing more gimmicks" by trying to open up alternate lines? I guess fans won't be happy until every track is like Talladega... three-wide pack racing with lead changes every lap... and traditional racing skills are relegated to history in favor of those who can "see the air."
