Can't wait to watch the Toyotas lead basically all the laps again...

Like this week at Loudon, the Xfinity race will probably be the most entertaining. It appears that the composite bodies for the time being have evened up the competition quite a bit.

Yeah exactly the xfinity race was great

Kenseth's favorite track...JJ's most successful one...interesting.

Storyline -
Monster Mile Presents Many Challenges: Goodyear will bring a different tire set-up to Dover Motor Speedway than it did for the spring race, with changes on both sides of the car. On the left-side, there is a compound change to give the cars more grip, as Goodyear tunes to NASCAR's low downforce settings. On the right-side of the car, there is a construction change to enhance durability, as Goodyear has done at many speedways. The changes to the right-side are important because of the speeds and loads the tires on that side of the car experience with the high degree of banking at Dover. In addition to that, the tread compound used on the right-side is designed to rubber-in the concrete track surface to the appropriate level.

"Dover presents several unique challenges, from the banking that generates high loads and speeds to the concrete surface that needs to take rubber," said Greg Stucker, Goodyear's director of racing. "What we've done with this right-side construction is part of the ongoing enhancement in durability we've developed as the NASCAR race package evolves. At the same time, we were able to give the cars a little more grip with this left-side compound, while we continue to rely on this right-side compound to lay rubber on the track. Since we start the weekend with a white concrete surface, fans will watch it rapidly turn to black with rubber. During the race, specifically during caution periods, fans can see it lighten in color again as cars pick up rubber off the track surface. This happens because the cars are not at speed and are not actively laying rubber, allowing the hot tires to pick up much of what was laid down on the previous run. But the rubber will go down quickly again once the race goes back to green. This actually happens on all race tracks, but it is just more noticeable on the lighter concrete surface versus darker asphalt."

Notes
: Teams in both the NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series will run the same tire set-up at Dover this weekend . . . this is the first time these teams have run this combination of left- and right-side tires at Dover, though they did run these same tire codes at Darlington four weeks ago . . . compared to what was run at Dover in June, this left-side tire code (D-4728) features a compound change to provide more grip, while this right-side code (D-4742) features a construction change to align it with what is run at other speedways . . . this tire set-up came out of a Goodyear test at Dover on July 25 . . . drivers participating in that test were Chris Buescher, Landon Cassill, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Matt Kenseth and Joey Logano . . . Dover is unique among NASCAR ovals one mile or less in length, in that inner liners are required on all four tire positions . . . air pressure in those inner liners should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.

I didn't know that. I thought it was the concrete making it happen, but it's just the concrete making it visible. Interesting.

Appreciate your posting of the link.

Now if the announcers of Sunday's race could somehow refrain from reminding us of all that every two minutes . . .
Not only will they remind you every two minutes, it will also be done with scrolling names of varying color of which will be explained in great detail once between each commercial break.

If it makes anyone feel any better (and it probably won't), it's not just NASCAR announcers. My wife was complaining about the golf announcers doing same thing during the PGA's season-ending four-tournament 'playoff' this month.

No PBJ on the track this weekend? Maybe they are going with Freeze and Shine or TRESemmé Ultra Fine as how else are these guys and girl supposed to keep their cars adhered to the track?

Look at all the white clothing and hats lol. That sun is no joke.
That pic was from 1989. No a lot of NASCAR apparel was sold back at that time. I can remember trips to The Glen back around 1990 and the relatively few souvenir haulers that existed back then.

NFL announcers too. During the Week 1 games - the friggin' opening week - presenting stats and expert commentary on the probabilities of making the playoffs if you are 0-1 versus 1-0. SMH.

. I have access to go back and review games played so if you would give me the game you heard this in or the games available in your area during week 1 I would appreciate it as I would like to compare it to NBC Nascar coverage. The only mention I heard of playoffs in the NFL this year was in week 3 concerning the world of hurt the NYG would be in playoff wise if they dropped to 0-3. It took about 7 seconds.

I watched a bit of one football game that was in overtime waiting for 60 minutes. They weren't jabbering endlessly or screaming at the top of their lungs and there were a couple of plays where they could have been. Sounded so much more professional. I didn't think announcers were supposed to be screaming and yelling except in really rare occasions. There is a reason for that, look at what NBCSN has. It doesn't work for the whole race. People shut down after a while of that. Human nature.

Letarte, Burton and Allen used to be like a background noise you didn't realize bother you so much until it ceased. Now people get agitated just thinking about them.
