2017 Kansas - Hollywood Casino 400 - Pre Race Thread

Kansas Speedway has advised its fans that lines to get into the speedway grandstands could be longer because of increased screenings. The message on its website notes it will also screen fans who enter the fan walk area and the pedestrian tunnel. It will do random x-rays of cars entering the infield tunnel. The speedway, as a matter of policy, doesn't comment on security measures.

I must have missed Chistopher Bell's press pass last week.

yeah Bell is getting some Xfinity rides, he's racing this weekend in the 18 (Kyle's sponsored beat the kids :p) Gibber mobile. Because Nascar limited the senior cuppers from competing, guys like Bell get a shot. He is going full time next year in Xfinity so it's a good deal in case you didn't know the deal.

Suppose it was just a matter of time that this type of security became common-place.

To the best of my knowledge, in addition to having their bags searched, fans entering major sporting events in Chicago have had to pass through a metal detector for a few years now.

go figure . . . .

lol @ the HMS fans. You guys sure do back up one another :D:D:D

The tv booth just said this weeks Kansas quali will also
determine Martinsville race day pit selection. I'm confused.

They do this when the following week has both qualifying/race the same day, like what is happening next week @ Martinsville. The qualifying followed by the pit stall selection process and then the moving of the equipment takes more time than they have to get to the start of the race. I still don't like it though but I guess they don't have much of a choice.

Ah, they are qualifying next Sunday for the race which will follow a couple hours later.
Well this will be a very important quali then in Kansas. Thanks.

Derrike Cope is going to be getting lapped once every 9 laps at that pace.
How tf you 3+ seconds off of the pace at a track where it takes about half a minute to lap around. This rolling chicane is about to turn every track into a roval.
