I think that is a fair question as Truex did very little for the bulk of his career and became a world beater last year Did he have bad luck and bad equipment for many years and now has good luck and good equipment? Is it a case where if he unloads well, practices well, qualifies well he races well? If we can find answers to those questions we may have an answer.
 
I will say in person you forget just how fast this track is. I'm used to sprint cars, dirt late models, and ARCA at Toledo, so to see guys going 215 is something else. Car has to feel like a feather

Have you been asleep the past couple weeks he either has a loose wheel or he blows his motor. Junior has lost his nerve to drive that race car.

My guess is that they will end up using plates at this track and add a couple of stages to slow things down and bunch things up. Hopefully this year's races will be really good so they will leave things alone.

IDK if Junior has lost his nerve or just checked out as he seems more interested in commenting on things through social media instead of being fully engaged as a race car driver. This is just my opinion.

I agree reminds me of sprint car racing at Eldora where they just generate so much speed you can really see some crazy racing if you get some cars neck and neck.

I am intrigued to see how plates work here, it's so damn wide it would be very hard for the leader to block everywhere

I mean since I been watching for the past year and a half I never seen a car unload as fast as his every single week!!! It's amazing lol.. with cars unloading that fast I think a lot of people could drive em lol

It is pretty crazy how often they nail that first practice. Even though it's mostly made up of mock qualifying runs it's still impressive.

Yeaa man every week this car is super fast right off the truck!! I watch every practice and a lot of people have to get there car up to speed but this dude just hops in his ride and is fastest like every week lol

Well I'll say this, he started off building cars at a very young age and he is very good at relaying what needs to happen with the vehicle, much like Kyle Busch. Add to that he's incredibly hyper, it helps him really stay dialed in for a long time. Combine that with a great crew chief and you have an impressive team

You bring up some very good points as did Truex all of a sudden learn to drive in his mid 30's? Other drivers did better in DEI and MWR equipment than he did when he drove for those organizations so I think a case could be made that Truex mainly car.

I think it's a really good combination for them and I was going to say it's mostly Cole pearn but that 77 cars really fast to so hard to judge
 
It's different when it comes to Gibbs cars.. I think they just know something in Denver! Those cars are fast.. that 77 is just as fast as the 78!!
 
I'm in Michigan for a friend's wedding and I have local sports radio on. A caller calls in and mentions that he was a Sterling Marlin fan so the hosts start by asking him about the 2001 Daytona 500.

I'm leaving tomorrow so I won't be able to make it to MIS.
 
Good hearing old DW talking today about all the things Bobby Allison taught him on setting up race cars. He said Bobby was his hero prior to the rivalry that evolved later on.
They say Bobby was a wiz at setting up a chassis. One of the all time greats, when they come up with a list of the very few elite best drivers of all time , he is on my list.
 
All of the folks beneath the metro Brooklyn skyline have to be proud this weekend.

A couple thoughts:

That 48 scheme they are running this weekend/year might be my favorite 48 scheme to date.

Cole Custer was named after Cole Trickle and he had no idea. He also had never seems Days of Thunder. What the deuce?


I saw a beautiful comment on a FB page today....

I did say my only complaint is the racing can be pretty dramaless and go by quickly. But in terms of the facility and the viewing it's awesome imo!

I've had the head bobs a few times at Dover. That place can be extremely hypnotic....

Having attended my first 3:20 start last week at Pocono I agree it's a terrible idea for those attending. Plus, it seemed like people were getting a little more sauced up then usual. Even so I'll be doing it all over again in 6 weeks. I have Kentucky next...
