2017 Watkins Glen - I LOVE NEW YORK 355 - Pre Race Thread

What is this stuff? Never heard of it

This stuff used to be called green death due to the flatulence it induced.

Used to not be a fan of road racing until the Ambrose, Keselowski and Busch finish a few years ago. One of my favorites now.

possibility of rain...omggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg

Oil. Huge screw job....but everybody loves the finish. Makes me wonder about what people consider "good racing." Maybe we should oil the track with two to go? I mean we have VHT. The opposite of that would be oil?

there were four or five recent close finishes on that clip.

Hearing they penalized Larson 30 minutes in the last Cup practice because he spun his tires leaving the lug nut check area. o_O

Watching Cup practice and some cars have a windshield wiper.

What's up with that?

Not everybody loved the finish

Definitely gonna watch this one. I love the road courses.

Is there anyone else who has not missed a race on TV so far this year? I've been lucky enough to catch all the Cup races so far. (except the All-Star race, and I missed nothing there )

I've never drove a stock car in the rain. Seems like it'd be fun. Bring it on!

Dunno....if I am Junior, I might continue to worry about my ability to drive a road course in the dry. P28.

Anybody disagree with me that with rare exceptions (Dinger), if a guy can drive a road course, a guy can drive, period?

We should actually started at 1 so I can see the whole thing

First year I have missed any races ........ the stage crap has all but ruined it for me and my family. We will get together today to watch the road course though

Should I begin my rant about how this is one of the least safe tracks in America with terrible angles to hit at, a severe lack of tire barriers, and very little to non-existent run-off room around the fastest parts of the track, or should I save it for the race?

I do like the racing though. I just don't understand how nearly every year NASCAR comes here there's an absolutely terrible crash and nothing is done to fix the problem areas.

I agree,I raced formula cars for 30 years and avoided WG because of the no run off room.
And over my years I took advantage of run off many times.
And, tire walls!
