2018 Michigan -- FireKeepers Casino 400 - Pre-Race Thread

Saturday morning practice. Looks like the 42 team of Larson got their problem fixed

The schedule I posted and is still on the website is wrong. Somebody at jayski dropped the ball. Cup final practice that is listed for 12:00 ET on FS1 isn't on anywhere. The X race is on Fox at 1:30 ET not FS1.:mad::mad:

It's currently raining at the speedway. They're showing yesterday's qualifying on FS2 instead. Hopefully they get the Xfinity race in later....

NW Ohio is fairly sunny but unfortunately we are socked in with on and off showers. Ridiculous weather for June, typically you get quick storms that’ll blow through instead of lingering rain. Weird weather year however

I didn't realize they removed the big grandstand in turn 1! My section from 2016 is now "All you can eat". WTH?

The August Michigan race intrigues me. I ordered my Kentucky tickets yesterday and have Pocono again at the end of July.

What city/area of NW Ohio?

So no more sitting in turn 1?!

That was the only place I liked. Unreal. I was just going to grab a ticket tomorrow. Wasn’t as excited as usually before a race there... forget it now

Thought it would be ok to see one last race before the plate package kicks in... everyone should know that’s coming. Ah well, it was fun for 23 years anyway.

Well we went back to Toledo this morning. I don’t think we’re gonna run today guys

Looking at the radar and the hourly it doesn't seem all that bad. There's a large swath of rain but it should move through in the next few hours. Afternoon looks OK with some spotty showers. They can get a Michigan race in with about 2.5 hour window.

The problem is it’s spinning over Illinois at the moment. So the system is heading east but individual rain blobs are rotating around it

It should kick off storms later on as well. That’s the big problem. Any gaps will be where this rotating system kicks stuff off

Everything is all good. He's just taking a break to catch up on some personal things. He asked me to run the Pre-Race thread for him.
Thanks for the update. I was hoping everything was good, but didn't want to be nosy.

So what’s it looking like fellas, we gonna race today?

The radar looks pretty bad.

I was really hoping to see some cup racing today. Love this track.

Enjoyed Jeffs set down with Edsel Ford. Edsel seems like a genuinely nice guy.

Doesn't look like too much moisture has fallen on the track yet. For my own sake, I'm hoping the rain to the West of the track arrives quickly, because I'll be heading to work in an hour but am off all day tomorrow.

It's going to be interesting to see if they're going to get this in. The way the system is moving definitely keeps showers/rain in play but there is drier air that's been able to breakdown the system some. Michigan's two races are likely the fastest on the circuit. Reasonably 2.5 hours should be good enough. I think they sneak it in....
