I thought that had been outlawed several years ago, specifically to prevent post-race inspection problems. When Kenseth did it here last fall, it was the first time I'd seen it done in years.
 
Harvick's 10 and 20 lap averages were less than half a tenth faster than 2nd. He ain't that much faster.

There's a huge section of silver grandstands that are going to be completely empty today -- which is because they're still under construction and not open until November. Be a friend and send this to someone if you see them tweeting "OMG EMPTY STANDS!"

The current front grandstand at Phoenix lasted exactly 30 years. There was a fire that destroyed the original structure after the IndyCar race in 1987.

I was watching some old Phoenix races last night and one thing that immediately struck me was how archaic it was in the late 80's. When you're watching it at the time it seems normal. The wall setup around the dog leg was absurd and i believe led to the death of a Winston West racer. Plus, the track always looked like it was covered in sand/dirt. Then there was the flag "stand"..lol. It was basically a perch at roof height right next to the track. The best might be during IndyCar races having the a crew member from each team crouch down next to the pit wall (exterior one) with no protection from a pit road that had no speed limit.

the 17 and 00 should practice i their backup cars and save the good cars for the race.just saying.

The newly renovated PIR will seat about as many as Rockinham but the Rock closed because 45,000 in NC in March wasn't enough. Pity

There's over 150,000 people at the Valspar PGA tour today to watch Tiger. Just throwing that out there.
