2019 K&N East Series

Langley is gone as well. Not sure if I’m forgetting any others.
Pretty boring schedule. I like to see at the real weekly short tracks like south Boston and new Smyrna not at the big Nascar tracks (I’m including tracks like gateway and Memphis in that category).
Miss seeing them at places like Greenville Pickens, etc... oh well..

I imagine a lot of tracks simply don't think it's worth the costs of getting a date anymore. CARS Tour is the biggest thing in the Southeast/Mid-Atlantic now. If any track's going to spend that kind of money for a race, that's what they'll go for.

Have not heard much about full time drivers yet. I did see that Max McLaughlin from the Super DIRTcar Seris big block modifieds will be full time with Hattori. Sam Mayer will be running in the east series with GMS. Ruben Garcia and Chase Cabre will be back with Rev Racing full time, it appears that their 3rd car will go to just being part time... The year before last they had 4 full time cars... 4 to 2 in two seasons... that sucks
I've heard that the Bassett Brothers will not be back, not sure if thats 100% or not.

I think NASCAR was a bit harsh with those penalties.... A series that had 13 or 14 cars show up at Thompson and 15 at some other tracks, struggled to get good fields the past two seasons, and they have just eliminated a team that would have ran all of the races.
Car owner and driver suspended for three races AND 100 point penalty to owner and driver... So, they have no reason to even bother attempting to run for the championship . Might as well just pick a handful that they are interested. Skip races like Thompson that need cars and are far away from all of the teams...
Bad call for the points battle and for the fans in the stands... I think a lately cash fine would have been better. Maybe a small points fine...
Don’t like it

I'm sure the other teams dont like racing with someone who has an advantage because they broke the rules.

Yeah I realize that, but for a series that struggles to get cars, to basically tell one team they aren’t allowed to compete for 2019... it kinda sucks . When I see a 14 or 15 car field and that car isn’t in the race, I’ll be thinking , it would be nice to have an extra car in the race ...

They broke one of the strictest rules NASCAR has so they were hit hard, maybe they will get it reduced on appeal but they should have known better.

Not sure they are struggling myself. They have an East and a West series, and some will be joining ARCA at the end of the season. I wonder though how many might come over to ARCA now that all of their races will be televised live. What might look like a struggle to some is a step up for others if they get some sponsorship that wants to be on TV.

The races with ARCA arent til next year and that’s spread out throughout the season at ARCA short track races. They have 13 cars each at Thompson and Oregon last Year. 15 car fields were the norm . That’s less than healthy for those series. A full field is 24. They should be able to have 20 at every race.

Derek Kraus won the rain delayed Monday K&N Pro Series season opener.
They had 19 cars, pretty decent field.
The #17 DGR car of Ty Gibbs appealed their penalty (and i dont think a final penalty has been given out since they appealed) and showed up to the race.
They also had the 3 full time west series cars of BMR. The #87 car that finished in last and only ran 20 laps... well... I've only seen them run at south boston last year. They were extremely slow and caused numerous cautions by solo spins.... Hate to bash a team because at least they did show up... but it doesn't really help the car count or race much having that car there....
If the 17 went with the suspension and the 3 BMR cars were not there, would have been a 15 car field... Car counts may be a little rough at some of the races. I hope i'm wrong though! Couldn't attend this race because i'm out of the country but i'm sure i'll be at a number of them probably the next couple of races at least (Bristol in April and South Boston in May). Looking forward to seeing how it goes this year!

Only 14 cars for Memphis... Todd Gilliland is back! Live on fans choice tv today at 7pm

Yeah this is my first race. I'm watching on fanschoice.tv. Their pitstops are much slower than the top 3 series but the racing is good.

No hurry there during the stage breaks. They restart in the order they finished the stage.
I barely get to watch ARCA/K&N or Modified, but those races are always reat to watch. Especially the Modifieds should get some more attention.

Sam Mayer had the fastest car, but Chase Cabre gets his first K&N win with a great move on Mayer and McLaughlin.
I know it's not realistic, but Memphis could be a great place for a Cup race.

Ah ok. Makes sense.

I've heard the Turn 1 huge grandstand is condemned

Next weeks K&N pro series east race at Thompson has been cancelled

It's just crazy how K&N and Arca have both lost half their car counts in less the past 8-10 years. But the Whelen Modified Tour is having their biggest fields in a decade and can consistently keep 25+ cars coming at each event (usually many more).

It's not even the past 8-10, its like in 1-3 half the field has eroded.

I know safety is a big deal, but the old cars brought decent car counts.

It's not been that long really. In 2015 the K&N east series only had 1 race with less than 21 cars. Most of the races were 25+ cars back then.
The Whelen Modified Tour does get some great car counts, though it has multiple factors that help it. One, its very regional compared to the K&N series, other than the couple of southern races they do at the start of the season, they pretty much just stay in the New England area (almost half of the schedule is comprised of races at Thompson and Stafford). The cars are also more standard cars compared to the K&N cars.
There are several series in the region like the Tri Track Series, ROC Modifieds, Valenti modified series. Even a couple of tracks run tour type modifieds weekly (Riverhead and Bowman Gray).
K&N cars basically can only be used in K&N east and west races. Not as many of the cars out there.
I did go to a couple of Whelen modified tour races at Oswego with only 21 cars, which still isnt bad.
The modified tour is doing really great though with good car counts and great crowds (with tickets usually close to $40 each in New England).

So the smart thing to do is to make a uniform car for ARCA, K&N, Pinty's, Mexico, Euro?

Well, the Euro Car ( at least the chassis) is basically a Pintys series car already...
The Euro Series and Mexico series already both have healthy car counts (not to mention the series are in fact not even owned by NASCAR...).
Making those teams just throw away their old equipment for a new uniform car may just kill the current good car counts they have. I don’t see a lot of teams bringing cars from Europe and Mexico to run ARCA, K&N or Pintys races anyway....
The Pintys series... well I think only 16 showed up for their race in New Hampshire ? Can’t see teams bothering with bringing a car down for an ARCA or k&n race if they barely came out to support the first USA race of their own series...
ARCA and K&N cars are already pretty much the same except a few things, and they already plan to have K&N cars run in ARCA short track races next year.
Doing too big of changes to the cars in Pintys , K&N or ARCA may just drive away the few teams they already have...
Idk what the answer to fix those series is... I’m glad I don’t have to make the decision...

that is already being done, with parts manufacturers in the various countries. I think a Mexico firm is making the bodies. Interesting is that Euro, Pinty's and Mexico are running General tires. IDK if Arca and K&N will go the same route, but I bet Goodyear isn't excited about that. It's going to be interesting with the playoff setup and the money involved next year to see how it all comes out.

Gotta find a way to make it a hand me down series. I don't understand why NASCAR (and ARCA piggybacked) didn't think about that 3-5 years ago.

I've read on other social media that people are optimistic about 2020 (20 ARCA races and 6-8 K&N races), but I'm afraid NASCAR will need to do more.

ARCA has been on general tires for a few years. K&N and Pintys switched this year to general.

since 2016 for ARCA. K&N along with Euro, Mexico, and Pinty's, multi year contract starting this year. After some digging

Adding the others to ARCA is a big tire contract and a multi year one at that. We'll never know probably if Goodyear had a bid in or if they weren't considered, but that is a lot of tire business

Yeah I think General Tire is still Hoosier, I wouldn't complain about a new tire deal in NASCAR really.

I wonder if I should bother driving to Roseburg, Oregon in a few weeks on June 29. It had the lowest K&N West car count last year like Thompson........

The entry list is usually out on the Tuesday before the race. You could always check that and decide from that. Colorado’s list came out today. Only 14 so far, it’s possible it will increase though.
Last weeks Pintys race only had 15 on the initial entry list, but there were 18 entered before the weekend came around

Yeah, I considered Colorado National but I won't be able to make it. I'll be surprised if Colorado isn't back still next year with a reduced schedule even.

Douglas County is a fun track in a nice part of Southern Oregon so I'd love to see 15 cars, doesn't take too many with how small it is.

My guess is there's no chance K&N considers Thompson next year.

I made it there in 2017, pretty cool track. Had plans to go there last year as well but family came into town last minute and prevented me from going...
Skipping it this year due to ARX being the same weekend.
Have you been to the Roseburg track before ? Cool place ?
I love checking out K&N races at different tracks. Have never seen a race (or even set foot) in Oregon. Have seen races in 38 states, always looking to add a new one but its so damn far... Saw that one on tv years ago but can’t remember it at all
