2024 NASCAR Schedules

That facility can barely even host ARCA, let alone Cup at the moment
The facility is supposed to be getting some upgrades/repairs along with Trucks returning which is great. I’d be surprised if Cup ever went there as I don’t see that at all happening. I just personally hope Indy Car goes back.

Cup goes to Gateway and went to Kentucky before that. And they're going to North Wilkesboro IN LESS THAN SIX MONTHS!!!

I know they're doing a lot of improvements at North Wilkesboro, but y'all have no idea unless you were there for the CARS Tour show.

Thing is Gateway's facilities weren't as bad as Milwaukee, and Kentucky's only issue was traffic

From everything I've been told, though I've been to neither, Gateway and Milwaukee are both pretty much equally as bad.

Although, as far as I'm concerned, all you need is: Asphalt or clay, walls around the track (or SAFER barriers in NASCAR), grandstands (wood or aluminum, don't care) for the fans, and a control tower for race operations and video production, and an infield care center for NASCAR.

You don't even need concession stands in my book. North Wilkesboro brought in food trucks, and a moonshine truck😍. Quite frankly, some of those food trucks serve better food than most restaurants and are held to much higher public health standards than any restaurant.

Hopefully sooner than later we can get going at Daytona on the 4th of July weekend at night & then take the trip to Chicago after and then run that Atlanta SS at the end of the regular season instead because ratings.

Oh, I’ve been to tracks without walls. I’m with @DewChaser988: Cup needs walls all the way around. If we’re down the food chain several notches, then I agree they aren’t always necessary.
Point I was making was that the biggest racing series in America deserves the best facilites.

Do you see an NFL team playing at a small high school stadium? MLB teams playing in a sandlot? or NBA teams playing at a rec center?

Ever been to Florence?

Florence is only 4/10 though. Also I’m not sure we should use that track as a benchmark lol the scoreboard barely works and the bleachers are not ideal.

IMO they should head up to Attica Raceway Park in Ohio to see a beautiful small town race track. Those folks have the blueprint

This. The biggest stock car racing circuit in the continental United States and the world deserves to have top shelf facilities wherever they may race.

There's a lot about Darlington I wouldn't call 'top shelf'. Somehow it manages to produce world class racing year after year. That's what I'm most interested in.
Top shelf is what I meant in terms of safety at the track for drivers and best racing conditions. Didn’t mean so much for fan amenities

Can't wait for y'all to start complaining about bad racing at IMS again (though I'm hoping it's going to be better with the NextGen)

Cant wait to see it. I'll do everything in my power to go and support it, imo they should never have left the oval. A wrong will be right'ed.

I'm glad they are going to give the new car a chance on the oval, but if it is still a crappy race they should give up on Indy. Neither the oval or road track has ever put on a good race with cup cars.

This will be the moment of truth, if Rockingham's attendance bombs, then it should never host Cup again. But if it suceeds, I'll eat crow.

To anybody who wants Rockingham back, it's time to put up or shut up. If you show up on race day, the track stays on the schedule. If not, don't complain when it falls off the schedule and never returns

I think a mandate like that is very tricky. People's financial situations are all different, like I just dropped $1200 for Wilkesboro tickets and that doesnt even include the hotel yet, plus our meals and merch.... its a tough thing to go out of town for a race for some folks. I hope the track succeeds and finds itself back on a Cup schedule, I'd like to see what the new car would do here but if it comes down to a Cup race at Wilkesboro vs Rockingham, my money is going to Wilkesboro. I would also take Bristol, Charlotte and Martinsville over attending a race at The Rock. Just cooler venues that always had better racing. But I hope the Rock finds itself a place in the current landscape of NASCAR, wherever that maybe.

Wilkesboro also has the benefit of being an historic track

Dude, they don't even have a date yet. Don't hold your breath, either; we need all the members we can get around here.

But if they get one for Trucks or higher, or any single-day double-header totaling over 150 laps, I'll be there in the most expensive ticket they'll sell me.

It won’t be better with the Next Gen. The car is a lot better on multi groove tracks because they can now run side by side without the car on the inside spinning out. On one groove tracks, it’s worse than the old car. Texas and Martinsville come to mind. There is no outside groove at Indy. The side force issue is what got fixed.

Sounds like a win all around to me. I'm pretty sure that part of the state is trying its best to outlaw the internal combustion engine, so why would nascar show up?
Damn you, Gavin Newsom.

Oh dear. I just think living through what happened to Chicagoland….and the Coliseum being floated as a points race for next year, I don’t like this for the future of AutoClub

1. When this was originally announced, it was my understanding that this would be done in a year, 2. You haven't even finalized the plans for the track yet? 3. You can't establish a build schedule? 4. The second date in four years skipped....What track can survive that? This feels weird. I'm not going all doom and gloom, but what the hell is going on?

Yea I agree, the part that gets me is there seems like there isn’t or frankly hasn’t been a set plan for this from the start. When Phoenix or Daytona were done, things were laid out pretty clear while also having reno updates on those tracks websites. This all seems…vague. Feel like I’ve seen this movie before…Just like Chicagoland was skipped due to Covid in 2020, then Iracing street course was unveiled and the Series never came back to the track. I’d bet the Coliseum is the replacement for Fontana, which is what was supposed to happen all along maybe.
