I still wouldn’t be surprised if they wind up selling the rest of it after further evaluation. Per acre that’s over $100M in land still available to sell, which could be even more valuable now that they’ve sold much of the surroundings off. With how much they talk about the uncertainty of construction costs and timelines it’ll probably ultimately be well over a $200M bet on a reconfigured short track if they ever get around to it. The proposed project has only gotten costlier since they tinkered with different layouts and found they’ll probably have to tear down the existing pit road suites, materials costs, etc. That's probably why Nascar has been mums the word on information. They didn't want to screw up the deal they had working. Now it has closed so hopefully there will be more information/action becoming available about their plans for the track.
They haven't been completely paid for their recent sale. They have a healthy down on the property and it sounds like they get to take it back if they default in a certain amount of time. It's complicated. The only thing I see is certain is no more racing at Auto ClubI still wouldn’t be surprised if they wind up selling the rest of it after further evaluation. I'm about worn out hearing about Nashville this and Nashville that. Seems like it might be a hell of a lot easier to buy some land you own and build a small track without all of the political B.S.. Nobody cared about Nashville until Marcus and Jr showed up.
I would love to get both the Fairgrounds and Wilkesboro back on the schedule. The Wilkesboro track has character and they had some great races. That's how I felt about N. Wilkes for a few years, and still do. It's still how I've felt about Rockingham for several years, with no sign of a reason to change on my part.
Ken Block died dudeBring back the Pikes Peak Hill Climb and maybe make some safe foam walls where someone can Chastain or Ken Block it like a speed demon do something weird with the time.
Would be awesome with how they’ve done stadiums, streets, dirt. Mountain? Haha it would be good money involved for all for tourism.

I'll tell ya, it seems they're always having some kind of hearings or a vote. I dont see this deal ever happening.I don't think they will ever have the necessary info. There is a member or two on the fair board who seem dead set on it not happening.
I almost am rooting for FGS to get a Cup Race, just so I can see the Karen’s wilt from their increased whining, crying and moaning.Screw those damn people. Marcus Smith has already given away the farm and they still want more. They want more parking for kickball.
These are the same people who move next to an airport or a race track and complain about the noise. They have evolved from lizzardsI almost am rooting for FGS to get a Cup Race, just so I can see the Karen’s wilt from their increased whining, crying and moaning.
One time I was reading an article a nearby track staying open and a woman was quoted as saying she moved there, was surprised there was a racetrack in her backyard and she hated the noise. These are the same people who move next to an airport or a race track and complain about the noise. I blame them. There would be LESS racing if this gets approved than there is now. They’re just hoping if this doesn’t go through that the track will go away entirely.^I don't blame the neighbors who are opposed, but that lady isn't helping their cause. Who is she, Greta Thunberg's mom?
Okay, I'm finally going to ask. What's the big appeal of overhauling this track when there's a perfectly good one just a few miles out of town? I ask as someone who's never been to either, and likely won't.

I agree. I think it is great Nascar is working out of the box and trying different things to bring more interest to the sport. If it is anything like the street races the Pintys series has in Canada, it's going to be a cool deal.I dislike the phrase but NASCAR should "stay in its lane" and stop trying to race in center city areas. It's not going to work well both for the fans or the industry in general.
To me its different if you're going to an established track, opposed to creating one.I dislike the phrase but NASCAR should "stay in its lane" and stop trying to race in center city areas. It's not going to work well both for the fans or the industry in general.
Where did you come up with that figure..seems a bit steep when you could ride public transportation for a fiver or less probably. It’ll probably cost $200 to park within shuttle range.
I guess I’ll have to fire my joke writer.Where did you come up with that figure..seems a bit steep when you could ride public transportation for a fiver or less probably.
Yeah, but one of them is already operational. Why hassle with all the hurdles of the other?2 completely different tracks in size and history

SRX packed the place. Clearly people want to see racing there.Yeah, but one of them is already operational. Why hassle with all the hurdles of the other?

$200 is the expected weekend parking fee out in the North Wilkes boonies.

It appears that NASCAR will be returning to Circuit of the Americas next season.
That’s just one of a few questions looking ahead to next year’s schedule.
Speedway Motorsports rents the track to host the NASCAR weekend at the Austin, Texas, road course and there’s an option to hold the event there in 2024.
Marcus Smith, president and CEO of Speedway Motorsports, hinted Thursday that the plan was to return to that track next year.
In that case I wish they would skip it. I am sure that I am in the minority with my opinion and I will admit that it probabaly makes a lot of money and it is a huge sucess in that regard. I am sure they will continue to run cup races there well past my lifetime. He’s not wrong
Kyle Busch says if NASCAR can't run race worthy of IMS oval 'we need to go somewhere else'
When asked Saturday about NASCAR's messy history with road courses, Kyle Busch said the series needs to run the IMS oval or skip the track altogether.www.indystar.com
Seems to have some legs. I guess they didn't try selling fans tickets for next years event while they were thereWord going around is the dirt will not be back on Bristol for next year.
