2025 British Grand Prix

My first season watching was his first in the sport. He built one long career being great in mid-pack cars. But whenever the opportunity for a podium arose he couldn't make it happen. Still think he should've won in Brasil in 2012.
I thought his career in F1 was over after 2019. Watching Sauber over the last few years there was no way they'd get another podium before becoming Audi.
But today they did. After starting last. And this wasn't a fluke. Nico didn't put a foot wrong today while everyone else except Lando did.

He had by far the longest streak in F1 history of race starts without ever earning a podium.

Also the first podium for the Sauber team since Kobayashi at Suzuka in 2012. Freaking outstanding result all around.
I'm used to the attitude of 'Second place is first loser', I guess.

I get it. It’s a different world.

For the better part of the past dozen years it’s been considered a good day for the Sauber team to even achieve a points finish. Hulk himself has bounced around between various midfield and backmarker teams and had a tendency to extract the most out of those cars, he just never had the fortune to land a drive with a top team for one reason or another (age, etc.). For all the stars to align for both he and the team today is really remarkable. I’m not sure there’s an applicable NASCAR comparison, but that bunch is going to be much, much happier with P3 than Piastri will be with P2 for sure.

The Mclaren boys widened their championship lead, but Max minimized the damage after his spin. Sad that Stroll's race fell apart at the end because he really had a good run going.

Oscar's penalty was pretty bad, but I can see the steward's point. It was reoughly similar to what George did in Canada, though it was much more blatant. If there's anything good about it at least the championship hot tighter.

Yuki last car running and Colapinto didn't even start. I can't imagine one of then won't get the hook before long.

Hopefully Spa will be wet/dry too.

Only at Indianapolis and maybe Daytona, and certainly LeMans. I'de have to think hard to name any second-place finisher at those places.

Here the big picture is the championship. A point adds up to roughly a million dollars at the end of the season, so third place for a back of the pack team represents a good payday. That, and especially in Hulkenberg's case, you have to start somewhere. Once Audi comes in, he could very well be fighting at the front.

All in all, I enjoyed this race far more than my previous F1 experiences, all of which were Monaco. Weather contributed to differing strategies, something I enjoy. For once I was able to get past not being able to identify most of the cars.

Leclerc had undoubtedly one of his worst performances ever today. Not sure how many trips he took through the gravel, but it was at least three.

They showed a replay of that but it wasn't clear from the telecast how Sainz got involved.

Nothing to write home about for Chuck today for sure. Never recovered from the bad strategy decision at the start.

I think 90% of the guys here will tell you that from a racing standpoint Monoco sucks. It's just awful, so today must have been a big culture shock for you. Even in the rain you'de never see today's kind of action at Monoco, so I think it's good you gave it another chance and good you were rewarded by today's race.

I just finished today's Indycar race and dammed if I could tell who was whom. Most teams change liveries back and forth so it's hard to remember who is driving what. Today was Palou's third vastly different livery (unless I missed one) just this year.
