2026 IndyCar News / Misc.

From other socials, looks like it’s going to be IndyCar madness day

I wish it weren’t so unceremonious. He’s gonna find another ride, though. Glad he was able to win one more with the boys at Portland.

Cold, calculated corporate speak like Helio and Simon. Maybe what went down with Penske , Will had enough. Also wonder if Verizon might cut back on sponsorship money going forward.

I do think this decision was made a good while ago and it’s really unfortunate Will was left in the dark for so long. I think his tenure deserved to end with a bit more fan fare - he’s a legend both of the sport and of Team Penske, across all of their motorsport endeavors). But I think that’s just Roger Penske for you.

I think things are going to fall perfectly for Will though. Once Herta heads to F2 I imagine Power will be slot right into the 26 immediately. And that is much better than what he could’ve hoped for just a few weeks ago.

There are a few different ways in which this could happen, all of which are pretty interesting. Anyway, seems like VeeKay could be assuming the ‘heir apparent’ role held by Malukas for the 12 seat the past two seasons.

Will is an all-time great of American open-wheel racing. If he was indeed not told before Sunday's race it's a very bad look for Penske.
Glad he got that win at Portland. That was a fantastic drive.

Losing Rinus kinda sucks for DCR. I hope they can get a good replacement.

Not sure what to think about the Colton to F2 rumors but if it fails he shouldn't have trouble finding an IndyCar ride again.

Toronto is officially moving to Markham, and it sounds like it’ll be there for the foreseeable future. Kinda sucks as Exhibition Place holds a lot of IndyCar heritage. I think the level of development encroaching upon the track layout just got to be too much, and the timing with the World Cup next year was just right to finally pull the trigger on a change.

Never thought about this opportunity for Herta but I think it's a good one. Now I would think Will Power could move into his seat if they can agree to terms.

Man that sucks. Exhibition place has such a long history in the sport. Might as well have moved the race to CTMP, only an hour away.
IndyCar silly season is moving at breakneck speed:

This is gonna take a bit to get used to. Whenever I watch a Cup race I still think it's Keselowski in the 2.

Roger had given Will verbal permission back in June to begin talks with other teams. After Will won at Portland, he met with Penske back in Detroit and was offered a one-year deal to return.

It sounds like he wasn’t lacking for interest, but this bit is pretty spicy:
Only one principal shut down the notion of adding Power to his lineup before talks truly got going – and this despite the fact that this principal’s star driver was eager for Will to join and help make the team more consistent. Oh well. Maybe retaining Nolan Siegel will work out.

And they say F1 is political. "But it also felt as if the team had set Will’s 'use by' date and, since he hadn’t obligingly decided to retire, had instead figured he’d either drop off in pace next year, justifying the team dispensing with him, and/or make him less appealing to Penske’s principal rival". Makes me dislike the Penske Organization even more. I truly hope he runs circles around all of the Penske drivers, except Scotty Mac.

This dude is a lot of fun to watch. I hope his F1 endeavor goes well but I’m gonna miss him here.

Am I the ONLY one that is a little underwhelmed with Herta, or is Andretti just so mediocre that even HE can't overcome it?

His raw talent and speed is pretty undeniable I think, and he’s mostly overcome his over-aggressive and crash-happy tendencies from his first few years in the series. Where Andretti as a team seem to struggle is consistently unloading with good cars and especially with pit road performance. 9 race wins and a couple of top 3 championship finishes in spite of that is pretty impressive for a short career.

He’s going to be much older, more experienced, and accustomed to higher power and downforce levels than just about all of his competition. Where he’ll lack is in track-specific experience and experience with the temperamental Pirelli tires, which might be his biggest obstacle. I think he has all the ability in the world and go over there and win the F2 championship though.

Team Penske has always had a sell by date to their drivers. Pretty sure Mears was the only one that retired with them and even in his last year at the age of 40 he ran 8 of 16 races. If you read between the lines with Rusty Wallace…. he was retired by Penske, in fact on Dale’s podcast he says it was a mistake he bowed out when he did. It’s no difference to me, Power was a wanker and still is while Team Penske is highly unlikable at the moment. I hope Kirkwood dog walks Wanker Will

I was never a fan of Michael Andretti but felt sorry for him in F1 that year.
He sure has done well as an Indycar owner. Still not much of a fan but do like what he's done for Indycar......if that makes sense to anyone.

He joined F1 either two years too late or one too early. His career might have been a completely different story with the lower-tech cars.

The Cadillac team was his project. If it wasn't for him that team wouldn't be hitting the grid next year. I'm excited for their début but the Andretti name should be somewhere in the team name.
I guess the reconciliation between Michael and F1 wasn't meant to be.

mark miles is embarrassingly bad at his job and in any other sport he would've been kicked out long ago for some reason Roger Penske allows him to stay
