2026 Rolex 24 Daytona

Yeah I am almost ready to go ahead and just start
these 12 and 24 hr races single file.
One of these years the LMP2 teams will go against conventional wisdom and put a pro in at the start so they can avoid trouble and build a gap before turning it over at the first stop. Pretty much every P2 - and the handful of GTD teams who opt to have one - start their Bronze driver and it’s a recipe for disaster with the field all bunched up.

#83 LMP2 and #120 Porsche in the infield. Right side of LMP2 destroyed. Porsche nose into the tirewall

#83 appears to have spun first in the kink, Porsche drove into it through the tire smoke? #120 damage hidden by camera angle but the left front is probably toast.

Both drivers out of cars

Americans can only watch the entirety of the 24 hours of Daytona by paying for Peacock while the rest of the world can stream it for free on YouTube is wild to me
One month of Peacock is like $10 bucks. Two cups of overpriced cafe latte mocha frappuccino froth. Three cans of Red Bull. Less than two Egg McMuffins and an order of hash browns.

But hey, I admit I'm glad to pay it to get the entire race, instead of the days when the first and last hours were ALL we could get at ANY price.

Point is valid though.

We pay exponentially more for live sports programming, and our sports programming is littered with tons and tons of commercials.

Yes, but it's a discretionary purchase of entertainment. If I don't want to pay for it, I don't have to. That's why I don't have any of those overpriced sports networks; and services; because I'm not interested in their products. Peacock seems like a bargain compared to some of the stuff I know many here are paying for.

Most the diehards I know use a VPN to access the international feed on YouTube, which has generally far fewer commercials and better, more knowledgeable coverage.

If we’re gonna have to pay we may as well get appropriate coverage, and we don’t.

NBC’s coverage is simply unacceptable.

Tuning back in after a few hrs away, did the WTR cars have issues are are they just that slow? I noticed they each went with 3 driver lineups this year and didn't look as strong overall from that standpoint.

They had essentially a whole new engineering team jump aboard the 40 team the week before the Roar who they couldn’t get in any earlier because of non-competes. Just in general last year with the switch from Acura to Cadillac they lagged behind Action Express and seemed slow to understand the car. I think they’ll get it figured out eventually, but the Cadillac also probably had the most extensive ‘joker’ update package over the offseason besides BMW, so there’s a learning curve for that as well.

Man I feel bad for the 23 GTP Aston team.
Might be too many moving parts on the 12 cylinder machine to behave
for 24 hours. Still the best sounding car on the track.
Now would be a good time to go sit in the first couple
rows of the stands at pit entrance, From there you get a good
angle view as they dive in the trioval at crazy speeds.
Then time to move up high for 10:00 p.m. fireworks which is just
a mindblow to every sensory cell in your body.
