23XI statement on not signing Charter agreement

I suspect you are going to be saying that months from now lol. If anybody thinks it will be over Dec 2nd They probably will have another thing coming. It won't matter what the verdict is there will be an appeal.
I’m waiting for the jury to say “we are hopelessly deadlocked your honor.” The lawyers are going to love this!

Every organization, when faced with potential for significant impacts to current operations, creates contingency plans. Some are more detailed and involved than others…depends on the threat. NASCAR was considering all types of scenarios. None of these were slam dunks. All it demonstrates, to me, is smart strategizing and intelligent planning.

I can't for the life of me figure out the significance of bringing this plan to light. Seriously did anyone think they'd be dumb enough not to have a backup plan just in case?

I looked over those guesstimate costs and my instincts say the proposed budgets are waaaaaay short.

The part that was interesting to me was the estimated costs involved with the cars and the teams. a person can get a rough idea of what it costs in many areas to race in the Cup series. Of course some are saying that Nascar is planning to replace the teams lol. I guess contingency plan isn't in their vocabulary. That took a lot of work to come up with those figures.

How so? You're competing against yourself. Teams trying to come up with the next big thing is what drives costs. Nascar gives teams more than enough money to operate, but teams spend everything they have trying to beat the next guy. It has and will always be a problem until teams agree to a spending cap.....don't see that happening anytime soon.

I must have missed something. What oney does NASCAR give to teams to operate, outside of performance-based earnings?
Charter money is guaranteed. You get more for better performance, but if you finish dead last you still get paid out. Bottom line is they bring in more than enough to run, but its an arms race that they choose to spend more on.

If a single entity runs all the teams the arms race is gone.

I'm not sure how you can regulate a spending cap in NASCAR. Teams are always looking for ways around the rules. They wouldn't hesitate to get around a spending cap.

I get that, but then you can't complain about being broke. Just like Marcus Smith said way back in negotiations. Something along the lines of "If you want more money don't spend $20 million a year putting a race car one the track"

I think the car and the way they went about it stopped some if the spending wars. But now the bigger teams spend tons on the little things. Goodyear has another new tire for Kansas. That seems to be throwing some of the teams off a bit this year.

No way. They haven't got to trial yet. Then we get all of the who hit John stories to go on about.
We need something radical to happen to light up the keyboards. The kind of stuff that causes people to have nervous breakdowns etc

You underestimate us. The trial itself hasn't even started yet.
I would be willingly to bet that someone will start a new trial thread at that time and leave this thread in distress and eternal pain about what could have been.
We will not be safe until we achieve page 100.

NASCAR and Cup teams have been finding ways on cutting spending for 15 years. But every time they cut spending in some areas, teams go spend that money, if not more, on other things NASCAR can't control like shaker rigs, sims, R&D on lower series racing.

It got so bad that nascar mandates they use commercially available CFD program because teams were literally developing their own software.
